The new interface is cleaner and easier to navigate, and the calibration loads faster than before. I also like the added flexibility with custom target curves and the translation check feature — it helps me trust my mixes more across different playback systems. The upgrade process was smooth, and activation was quick. Definitely a worthwhile update for anyone already using Reference 3 or 4.

Long time Sonarworks lover. Finally took the plunge and upgraded from reference 4 to SoundID mainly for the virtual ASIO integration, and could not be happier.

What I still encounter is a subtle white noise when SoundID works as systemwide (like the Reference 4 did as well). PlugIn versions work noiseless.

I have had Reference 4 software for many years and have used it on all of my mixes. This purchase was to upgrade to the new iteration and I am extremely impressed with the sound and the options that the new software provides. Two Thumbs Up!

Reference 4 was already an amazing product, and the new features in SoundID are absolutely worth the upgrade. Just the better latency handling is worth the price of admission alone, but adjusting the response curves and setting targets makes it so you can basically monitor in any way you want, while still knowing you're getting as close to a 1:1 accurate representation in your room or on headphones as possible.

Honestly, I did not compare the versions directly. Both versions were installed and used without any further thoughts. They are useful tools.

Definitely worth the upgrade: more custom profiles (car, tvs, smart phones) to choose between and less CPU load in the plugin version.
