For at least 30 rounds the watch missed shots, got the tees wrong and assumed each green was reached in regulation - despite following all their instructions such as number the number of practise swings etc. The support team did try to help but their suggestions didn't work. However, after a recent update it is now recording shots correctly, though it still gets the tee colour wrong despite this being entered at the start of the round. Fingers crossed it continues to improve.

I have been a Shotscope customer for about 4 years now having bought every watch version. The latest version is better and the functionality is improving too. However, I am considering swapping over to Garmin though and the reason is because I have a Garmin watch and wearing both becomes problematic. I know Shotscope will not go down the path of Garmin elements that I use (calories, step records and challenges, sleep etc.), however, even your articles and emails are all focused on the Northern Hemisphere so we're not really a consideration below the equator. Anyway your staff are amazing and for that I am staying for now but will probably review the next version that comes out in a few years as there is no attention in your email and articles to Southern Hemisphere. We know we're not your market.

At launch, there were numerous issues, e.g. too long to find GPS signal, crashes. Over time, the updates to firmware have greatly improved the product. I also use, at the same time, a Garmin G80, but I tend to use the X5 mostly for yardages etc. Two main issues are that it fails to acknowledge when you swipe when face gets wet as when raining and it can take a few attempts to connect & sync after a round of golf. One improvement I would like to see is the ability to recognise tags for two different sets of clubs - I use one set for holidays/ travel and one as my main competitive set, but they record as if one set. This is my third Shotscope watch, having had the two earlier versions so they do the vast majority of things right.

I like this watch and it has so much potential but feel like it is let down by some basic problems. I love the idea of strokes gained data for my game but I feel like I have to put in a lot of work to get accurate feedback. Couple of basic issues which need resolving: -too many of my golf shots are not documented on my round (often wedge shots) and before you ask, yes I do take practice swings. -too much of a delay synching and transferring data from my watch to my phone. (This should be pretty much instant due to the size of the data being transferred but can sometimes take minutes! Very frustrating) -performance of the touch screen is particularly poor in the rain -you introduced the scorecard feature which seems to have no connection to the shot tracking feature It's very annoying because like I say I think it could be a great product but it is let down by basic software/hardware issues which frustrate users and give it the feeling of a being a very basic product.

The X5 looks like a sport watch. At the course, the GPS and GPS & Track mode provides all the information that you require, such as: yardage to the front, middle and back of the green; hazards; layup; shot tracking and scoring. I find the screen clear and bright even on cloudy days. I would recommend the X5 as a vast improvement to the basic V3.

I'm enjoying the watch but the power button is often pressed when i swing resulting in it trying to power off. Could do with moving this slightly higher on the next iteration. It also doesn't last 2 rounds back to back which is a shame so a pain during the summer when i often play 2 times a day at the weekend
