Whilst the bad weather did not help matters there were a number of issues with the hotel including lack of working lights in the car park, poor drainage and as our room was in a separate building, we had to walk through puddles to get to the main building. Also there was a lack of poo bins. In our room the duvet cover was torn, the shower head was dirty, the shower made a horrendous noise, the bath had previously had a leak and been patched, there were two rust marks in the bath and water was not draining from the bath after a shower. In the corridor outside our room wallpaper was hanging off the wall. Some of these problems were reported to Reception but were not completely resolved by the time we left. Although purported to be a dog friendly hotel we were seated in a separate room with our dog quite a way from the breakfast buffet area (we would not have taken our dog to the buffet area in any case) and therefore by the time we got back to our table the food was lukewarm. On New Years Eve although we knew it was a carvery (starters and dessert were served to you) my husband and I had to take it in turns to go to the carvery to get our food (as we had our dog with us laying under the table) but because of the time it took for the food to be put on your plate and us getting back to our table again it was only lukewarm. My husband and I basically ate our main course at separate times. You had to go to the bar to get your own drinks and if you wanted coffee after the meal you had to pay for it. When you came back from a trip out basically there was only a very small area in Reception where you could sit and have a coffee. After the 2022/2023 New Years break at another dog friendly hotel this was a very disappointing experience and we left the Charlecote Pheasant hotel a day early.

This place has huge potential but wasn't good value for money. The decor was very dated and in need of TLC, dirty/staining to carpets, wall paper ripped, dusty/dirty surfaces in the restaurant, bathroom could be cleaner (especially toilet and shower screen). We also felt the breakfast and evening meal choices were limited and the coffee machines were dirty. The room itself was basic but comfortable and quiet (at the rear of the hotel). There was a smell of cigarettes in the hallway presumably from guests smoking in their room which wasn't pleasant and also a fire hazard. The staff were friendly and the venue is dog friendly. The hotel sits within beautiful countryside and close to attractions. This place has great potential to be a high end venue but needs investment and looking after. We wouldn't return to the venue in it's current state /cost.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The area in the restaurant set aside for doggy friends meant that we could see some customers were forgotten.
Lovely to have somewhere to take dogs. Nice area a half way stop for us on our way to Norfolk from South Wales. The hotel is a bit dated, but that's ok when you have a dog with you. Food was nice, definitely go again.

We received a friendly welcome. The room was nice. There was a good atmosphere in the bar in the evening and the one evening meal we had was really very good (breakfast offering is good too). The location is great. I'd recommend this hotel for a couple of nights' stay.

Stopped a night in the way to the Lakes. Booked a twin dog friendly room it was clean and tidy and nice. The shower let the room down a bit dated and mouldy in places but hot water and did the job. Breakfast was good all in all a good little place to stay and would go back .

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Could check soap dispensers in rooms , bar staff could be more friendly and cheerful
The hotel itself is in a lovely setting and we had a nice room, however there was no hand soap in dispenser for 3 days so obviously it's not checked. We had breakfast the first morning, we arrived just after 9.00 and there was hardly any food left and absolutely no continental breakfast available. For £12.95 a Head this was not acceptable. The further two mornings we had breakfast elsewhere with no complaints. We also didn't have evening meals and found a lovely pub in next village to eat at. Came back for night cap in bar each evening. Drink prices exorbitant. Staff in reception very friendly but no so much in the bar area. No choice of beer only lager.

The Charlcote Phesent Hotel was wonderful! Truly dog friendly. Nice that the pup was allowed to come with us to dinner and breakfast. The room was clean, the facilities were excellent and there's plenty of places to take the pup for a walk. Dinner menu is a little thin (other reviews say the same) but the food is excellent! I'd rather have a slim menu and excellent food, than lots of choice and mediocre food. One small complaint - the outside bar area wasn't cleaned often, and was a little messy. But the outside area is otherwise very good! Nice doggie station for the pup by reception, well stocked. All three of us really enjoyed our stay - two people one dog!
