“The Hotel rooms need updating and redecorating. On the whole pleasant stay. Staff friendly and very attentive. Menu needs more choice and bigger portions but were tasty. Great breakfast. Lovely grounds for for exercising your dog's.”

“Very welcoming and made to feel at home. We had two 8 month old pups with us and throughout the whole stay we were relaxed and at ease. We stayed in the Haywood Suite which was fantastic and well equipped. The pups were spoilt and well catered for. All the staff were friendly, helpful and lovely.”

“Please don’t be put off by the slightly shabby decor. With some areas needing a fresh coat of paint, because the staff and the food absolutely make up for it. Very dog friendly, treats and bowls in the room, and the dogs are welcome everywhere. Breakfast room and dinner room. Food excellent, and staff very welcoming and friendly. A very enjoyable stay.”

“We enjoyed a 4 night stay, with our Border Collie. He enjoyed his sausage at breakfast & meeting other well behaved dogs. The hotel is well run, clean & nicely appointed. Food was good, but evening meals pricey. (For mains we had Salmon £29, Lamb £27, Chicken £20, Fish n Chips £21). Our first floor bedroom had a 4 poster bed, en-suite bath, with shower over. Lovely views over a formal garden, with bandstand & seating. Lovely dog exercise area, including by the Taw. A nearby railway occassionally had trains, but not too intrusive. Staff were friendly, efficient & hard working. Main roads were ok, but more minor roads were narrow- & traffic fast. We walked on trails , from the hotel. The nearby church is worth a visit. Overall a lovely hotel, which we will visit again”

“What a super hotel. Nothing to much trouble for them. All staff very pleasant to humans and dogs. Lovely grounds for the dog/dogs to run around. Nice little touches for the four legged pets. Poo bags, treats and towels available on wet days.”

“We really enjoyed our stay at The Fox and Hounds. A delightful hotel with wonderful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Delicious breakfasts every morning, the scrambled eggs were the best. We enjoyed our evening meals in the restaurant, the food was freshly cooked to order and we couldn't fault it. Our dog was made very welcome as was every other dog staying at the hotel. A lovely walk behind the hotel which was perfect for the morning and late afternoon walk.”

“Everything about our stay was excellent, food,room,staff and the hotel itself. Plenty of people with dogs , even during breakfast and dinner, with all dogs sitting happily under or round the tables. Yes, there were visitors without dogs but they all seemed happy with the doggy situation. Drink prices were reasonable. The staff were excellent, the hotel was kept very clean and the external grounds as well. We went for 5 nights mid week, at weekends you may get a small wedding party. The hotel was quiet at night. Overall , we will definitely be going back”
