With it been Milo’s first time away and only 10mths we were very nervous on how he was going to react. He was a good dog sometimes vocal but that was understandable. He loved running & swimming in the dog friendly garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful always making a fuss of the dogs when they met them.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Would highly recommend the fox and hounds country hotel.
Had a lovely stay at the fox and hounds. Nothing too much trouble. Perfect dog (and people) place to stay.

We asked our dog W to pinpoint highlights of our 5 day stay at the Fox&Hounds: "Well, first, the welcome!", he said. "Thoughtful touches like a towel at the entrance to dry me off after a romp on the lawns. Being given 'the run' of the extensive grounds and the public areas meant a best dog-friendly stay. Ever! Not to forget the greets and treats from all the staff. Tyler, Maddy, Tom, Keira, Zak, Helen and the backroom staff among them. "After a long day out what more could a dog want than joining sociable friends in the dining area while the humans take their pick of an expansive menu? ( There was bound to be one loudmouth, but that was the only blip for me). And then retiring for a peaceful sleep in our spacious room. My humans had brought my travel bed and favourite snacks and, if nature called, I could be taken outside at any time, day or night! "So ... How was my stay? If I could give six barks I would! But, to take the lead (haha) from others who loved this place, it's 5***** every time!" P.S. from the humans: "We'll be back. So much to see, do and enjoy in this wonderful part of Devon"

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Excellent value for money and the food both dinner and breakfast was 5*
Really comfortable and canine focused hotel. Spotlessly clean and the dogs are welcome throughout the hotel, a really refreshing change that helps you relax being able to have them with you

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Initially great response to us and dogs but it wasn't consistent.
Unfortunately this wasn't the enjoyable holiday that we were looking forward to. We selected a patio room but didn't realise that it would be next to main patio and only separated by trellis.   So it was not as private or quiet as we hoped. When I booked a table for dinner, I asked for one at the side or corner but was given one in the middle of the room.  As people/staff walk pass table the dogs barked, so was told we may need to leave.  Then told we couldn't take our food to the room and room service hadn't been available since covid although it had been listed in the offer. Even though we were first in restaurant, there was a long wait for food and the soup wasn't hot and steak undercooked. Following day while on patio overheard telephone conversation to owner, where they were discussing unreasonable customers then started to talk about us.  Receptionist, who was very professional  and friendly throughout our stay, apologised then went to tell manager that she could  be heard.  Overall experience and stay was uncomfortable which is a shame as the rooms were clean, hotel grounds were lovely and I had been looking for a venue for family get together.  Unfortunately the attitude towards dogs varies from they should ALWAYS be silent to we know they will bark.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Sadly, I do not seem able to download or drag a photo.
Toffee, my cockapoo, and I had a warm welcome and were shown to a comfortable room and had help with the luggage. The map for exploring the hotel's grounds was great and we very much enjoyed the area, especially the river bank, and paddling for Toffee. As I cannot walk far, the grounds were perfect. I even looked around the Tree House, to recommend to my son and daughter and their other halves. The breakfast room and dining rooms were both well-appointed and comfortable and I very much enjoyed my cream tea on the house. In all, I would recommend The Fox and Hounds and would return myself.
