I believe some before us have suggested the decor looking tired...so what. Others may have criticised the menu selection. All I can say in response is...really! What the Fox and Hounds might lack in any area it far exceeds in how they deliver a fantastic experience, from the heart. We've travelled extensively and been privileged to experience the very best of service all delivered by numbers and to be frank quite 'plastic'. We stayed for 10 nights. The staff are authentic, wonderful, and so helpful. To mention a few... Alex, Tom, and Lindsey. The restaurant team, including Eliza, Nell, and Ruby. Housekeeping for looking after our room and keeping it clean and tidy, which is not easy when you consider we had three pooches with us. Last but not least, Matt and Helen, you and your team made us feel so welcome. If you want to relax, unburden yourself from life's stress, and want your beloved 4-legged family members with you or simply want some downtime all to yourselves... this is the place to go! Thank you all so much.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Sort the menu out, if you stay over a week you need more choice. Get some vegetables on the menu and more meet free options. Veggie burger was nice but overcooked pasta doesn’t. More choice at breakfast. A small fridge in the room would be useful to keep drinks chilled.
We stayed for 11 nights at this hotel. On arrival it looked good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was good, albeit not as clean as I would expect. Lots of dust and found a large clothing tag under the bed. The mattress was not comfortable and a duvet had been placed on top of it; I’m guessing to hide the poor mattress. The room was hot but a fan provided, however with the windows open you had the constant drone of the large kitchen extractor ! The worst bit was the food. The menu had very limited options and was overpriced. In a week you can have tried everything on it. At first we thought it would change weekly but sadly no. So we ate there 3 times only. A belly pork (small piece) and noodles was £29!! There are no options for light bites and the ONLY vegetable on offer was tender stem broccoli at £3.50. I had it one night and it was tough and old ( discolouration). The lunch menu was not available in the evenings. Quite frankly it was trying to be something it was not. We were not alone in this view. So if you wanted something light of an evening it was crisps, chips or broccoli! The cooked breakfast was good and you could order differently cooked eggs. Only bread provided was sliced white or brown. No alternative. They never had enough stock of natural yogurt and fruit only appeared when I mentioned it. So if you didn’t want cooked the choice was cheap sliced bread, cereal, fruit yogurts and only croissants . If they changed the menu for dinner & breakfast it would have made it so much better. As it was we spent most of the holiday looking for places to eat; not what we had planned for. The dog treats were a nice touch and the grounds gave a nice place for the dogs to have a run around. The location is not as convenient as we thought so be prepared to drive between 30-60 mins to go anywhere.

We went last year about the same time and found the hotel was perfect for our needs for a 5 day break. This year we had a ground floor room with a small patio which was ideal with our small cavapoochon at two years old. The hotel has plenty of parking and grassed areas for walking the dogs. You can take dogs into the restuarant and breakfast room when having meals. I would say that the vast majority of guests had 1 to 3 dogs sat with them. The rooms are serviced every 3rd morning but you can ask for new towels , etc. if you need them earlier. Our room was looking a bit tired compared to the standard last year with the odd cobweb on a wall, tired paintwork , etc. This followed over into the meals. Last year there was plenty of choices that were what I would call not too fancy. Yes you could get fish and chips, a beefburger, etc. but the rest of the dishes had sauces , etc., that did not appeal to mour more traditional palate, the odd 12 or 15 oz steak was put on as a special but at £35+ when last year there was a more standard smaller steak on offer about £20+ it seemed a shame. The odd steak pie , etc. would not have gone amiss and is easy to prepare. We are used to staying in hotels of a good standard both in the UK and abroad but we left feeling dissapointed with the catering aspect of the hotel. Speaking to people on a bed and breakfast option we found that a number were travelling out to local eateries rather than pay the prices and/or to get a more general selection of offerings.. Luckily we had a £35 per personper night credit for our evening meals so it was nowhere as expensive for us. With us being there for 5 nights our menu options were limited, especially as the prices had certainly gone up from last year. The drinks prices were fair and there was a reasonable choice of draught beers. The staff were excellent and extremely halpful especially the tounger girls behind the bar and during breakfast. Would we go again? after two years on the run we probably would not it's time to try a fifferent area. If you get the excellent £35 per person credit then yes it makes the overall costs very reasonable. With the dinner menus I am not sure what type of client hey are trying to attract , I would hope that they would have a re-vamp of the menu which I feel would encourage more people to eat there. Also put the current menu and prices on there website as an indicator. We enjoyed ourselves at the hotel with the staff making us very welcome.

Don’t be fooled by this hotels 3* rating. We have stayed in many 4* hotels nowhere near this hotel standards. Location is excellent with excellent dog walks on the doorstep and when you get back there’s towels to wipe paws just inside the doors. Treats are everywhere, staff including management and owners very friendly. Room was massive very clean with comfortable bed. All meals were extremely tasty and well cooked, fresh and well priced (including breakfast). Very hard to suggest improvements here. I would definitely recommend and will go back

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The only thing that we weren’t aware of was that the room only comes with one dog bowl when we assumed there would be two (water and food) so we didn’t pack one. Though thankfully we were allowed to borrow one from the hotel for our stay.
We found this hotel by chance when looking for a mini-moon staycation. Our only stipulations/preferences in a hotel were that it was dog friendly and that we didn’t have to cook or find out own food. This brought us to Pets Pyjamas, and eventually to the Fox and Hounds. We were drawn in by the package we were getting which included an allowance for their restaurant, as well as breakfast as standard. We had an amazing time, the hotel is great and the staff were very welcoming.

We have just got back from a 2 night stay at this hotel, and it was lovely. The dogs had biscuits in their bowl on arrival, they had sausages for breakfast, and were thoroughly spoilt. As for me and my husband, we loved it and think we’ve found a hidden gem. Will definitely be returning.
