IL Motorsport Front Chassis Brace BarThis chassis brace was designed by a NASCAR chassis engineer for maximum rigidity. Each brace can be fitted in minutes and uses existing mounting holes. Even better, as you do not have to disturb any suspension mountings, there is no need to have wheel alignment carried out after fitting. These braces are now made for us in Europe allowing us to both reduce the price and monitor quality control thereby bringing you a better product at a better price!Fits Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005Please Note: This will NOT fit Mk2 & 2.5 6 speed models unless you remove the rear gearbox under tray.Fitting Instructions

If you are considering buying this, just do it! I've just added front and read chassis braces to my '96 Mk1 1.6l which didn't have them factory fitted and it makes a big difference. Not just handling is improved even more, but the ride is much more comfortable over bumpy roads and those damn thick paint strips on the way into 30 mph limits! The car feels more predictable and stable when cornering at high speed but I'd say worth it for the ride improvement alone. Dead easy to fit, instructions from MX5parts are better than manufacturers but IL Motorsport's website has lots of photos from different angles so you can check where they go (referred to as "connection rod, front): http://www.ilmotorsport.com/shop/article_detail.php5?aid=171&page=0&count=12&PHPSESSID=68b46b3e07547f79ecbe8b14060af38cMost difficult bit is getting 17mm spanner under bush to hold bolt, nothing needs removing though just might take a couple of goes to get hold of the bolt head.

Received both front and rear this afternoon, fitted tonight. Well, because the blondness of my childhood suddenly stroke back, I had some issues understanding how to install the front brace. And being claustrophobic, I didn't enjoy lying under my Mazda. But, the reward is immense. I could not resist going for a test drive on some of my favourite bumpy and twisting roads of my Périgord (SW of France, near Bordeaux, many Brits here), at 11:00 pm. And, my God, the difference is truly amazing! The car does not look like it's going to fall into pieces anymore. The driving is much more precise, pleasant and joyful. Yes, it is possible! Go for it!

Ordered front and rear braces Thurs, arrived Fri and fitted Sat to my 1991 Mk1 - great service from MX 5 parts. These braces really do make a difference, make the suspension feel much more positive, cuts down 'skittiness' when cornering or riding over poor road surface. Can't understand why Mazda didn't think of these as standard items - if you have a Mk 1 with no braces, get some of these fitted!

Nice brace, fitting is a bit tricky, but worth the price for the stiffening added

Speedy delivery as ever. Have a Mk 2, 6 speed box and had to undo the under tray but refitted it once the brace was fitted. The only issue was the gear box to bracket clearance of about 5 mm. Seems OK so far, and has improved the front end feel.

Bought this and the rear brace to match so costing somewhere in the £80s with postage. I have a late Mk1 1.6 so no factory fitted roll/braces.I have to admit to cheating when fitting it, I gave my local garage £20 to do the dirty work. But Christ! What an improvement. Less shake over uneven/bumpy roads, more precision and less roll in corners and roundabouts ;) Absolutely transformed the car immediately, and noticeably! Would definitely recommend. Also very subtly and doesn't show like boot/engine bay braces.

Was a little bit tricky to fit. After the first 30 minutes to find that hole on the side where I could slide the spanner - then the rest was done in 10 minutes. But some well selected phrases was uttered before I saw the light:)I haven't noticed any change in handling yet, remains to be tested.
