IL Motorsport Front Chassis Brace BarThis chassis brace was designed by a NASCAR chassis engineer for maximum rigidity. Each brace can be fitted in minutes and uses existing mounting holes. Even better, as you do not have to disturb any suspension mountings, there is no need to have wheel alignment carried out after fitting. These braces are now made for us in Europe allowing us to both reduce the price and monitor quality control thereby bringing you a better product at a better price!Fits Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005Please Note: This will NOT fit Mk2 & 2.5 6 speed models unless you remove the rear gearbox under tray.Fitting Instructions

This is NOT easy to fit to my MK1. I bought this because all the Reviews plus the info on the sales Listing said it was a simple fit I quote - "Each brace can be fitted in minutes you do not have to disturb any suspension mountings and did not require any major suspension removal." er NO. The nyloc nut is virtually impossible to tighten as it is tucked away BEHIND the rear most suspension arm and bush. I used a magnet to eventually drop it into place. I still have not worked out how to tighten them up as its impossible to get a socket of any sort down onto it without removing the lower wisbone assembly. I COULD have dropped the bolt down first but would still not be able to tighten it up correctly. Unhappy about this - glad it was only £38.

As per the rest of reviews on these brace bars - I was going to fit the ultra 4 point front brace - but as am sitting pretty lo it would definitely of ground out - this one makes almost no difference to ground clearance - manufacture is better than it looks on page - really is quite sturdyFitted with the corresponding rear chassis brace - car instantly felt noticeably firmer - with a decent harness bar and front strut brace it’s as far as you need to go to get the best from the car It’s also a quarter of the price of the ultra sport but I doubt if there is a great amount of difference

I must say if you want a cheap handling upgrade for your 5 then look no further..Fitted tonight a bit fiddly need a flat spanner but once sorted took 20 mins..first drive and the difference is very good more responsive and direct stearing..feels less body roll.and as fokes have said a smooth ride. Not been for a proper blast yet but judging by this i will be buying the two rears.

My MX5 came with the back brace so, following the good reviews, I fitted this to the front. I have just came back from Spain having chucked the car round some of the twistiest roads I have ever driven. My conclusion is that it appeared to flex less but not such a noticible difference claimed by other reviews. However, I'd say that it was still worth the £40.

Easy to fit, took 15 minutes. You can just about get the spanner behind to hold the nut. Nice and light too , the ultra Racing brace looks like it would be more functional but this is half the price and decent German craftsmanship supplied with all the bolts and bits needed. Wish Il motorsport did a mid brace

Ordered Wednesday fitted Thursday fantastic service, haven't road tested yet, that's for tomorrow. Managed to fit quite easily in the garage without any jacking, the bolt and washer can be manoeuvred into the hole using fingers and luckily my son had bought a really flat 17mm spanner for his bike which was perfect for holding the bolt whilst turning the nut with a spanner.

Great item took longer to set the car on ramps than fit the brace ,handy tip : I super glued the washer to the nut before inserting into place just dropped it over the arm ,then used a bamboo skewer to move to correct outer hole also put a little wheel bearing grease onto the washer using the the larger middle hole, just helps hold all in place while fitting the brace ,just waiting for the rear brace to come in stock and will be fitting that as well .haven't tried it out as yet will do a better review when both are fitted cant wait ..Very well made and a lot lighter than it looks .Regards Paul
