We are pleased to now offer the ledgendary WestCo sealed battery for the MX 5 (and Eunos). This battery is superior to the original Panasonic unit. It uses the very latest absorbed glass mat technology, this advanced battery has no free liquid electrolyte - unlike the Panasonic "wet gel" battery. “These batteries are rubbish. You\'re not supposed to jump start them,they won\'t hold the charge for long if car not used, they don\'t recharge very well when driving and you are supposed to trickle charge them from flat for a week!!!!! PATHETIC.Buy a cheaper conventional one.Editors Note: These batteries are a direct replacement for the original Mazda gel version. Mazda went over to using glass mat batteries as no conventional lead acid battery can give the same power for it\'s size. They do require more care than ordinary batteries, instructions for which can be downloaded from the product page, but the extra power and reliabilty you gain from these gel batteries far outways that. We recommend that an Optimate trickle charger (http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/1095) is used when the vehicle is not in use for long periods of time.”

“I purchased the Westco option, I have had a number of problems with it loosing charge, I also use a special battery charge for gel batteries and after just over two years it has failed.I will be going for a cheaper variant with more than the two years warranty at half the price.”

“Hi All,I bought my westco online on Friday 7th April delivered Monday 10th with full tracking online amazing to say my local Mazda stockist could'nt get me one for a week and at a cost of £128.99 (Panasonic). Fired up first time with no problems highly recommend this company.”

“I've got a green 1.6 NB Mazda MX-5 and the Panasonic genuine led battery gave up the ghost this winter.I ordered a new WESTCO Battery from MX5parts.co on Wednesday afternoon this week and the package came home 2 days later ! INCREDIBLE !I fitted the battery in the car, it suits perfectly the MX-5. Only a minor modification was necessary for the venting pipes, but it was not a problem.The car starts easier than with the genuine Panasonic battery, the starter works with a higher voltage.
