We are pleased to now offer the ledgendary WestCo sealed battery for the MX 5 (and Eunos). This battery is superior to the original Panasonic unit. It uses the very latest absorbed glass mat technology, this advanced battery has no free liquid electrolyte - unlike the Panasonic "wet gel" battery. “No more. I've gone through 2 of these and even bought a specific trickle charger (costing £100!)Went away out of country for 3 weeks, and didnt want to leave charger connected. Tried to start car, and couldnt get even the starter click. Put the expensive charger back on it, and zilch. Battery completely shot - below the theshold voltafe . So it's chucked on the floor awaiting trip to the tip. Not spending out anymore on one of these. Trying a Bosch. Half the price”

“The battery was delivered the next day Well done! fitted it to my car - tried to start the car battery was flat. Luckily if have the optimate charger for this type of battery. “For what it's worth my experience has been that I bought one of these in 2008 and it soon became apparent that the battery would not hold its charge for more than a few days. Many of us are fair weather drivers and so don't use the car enough to keep this battery maintained without buying an expensive trickle charger, even this causes problems if like me you don't have power in your garage and have to remove the battery to charge it. I see MX5 Parts recommend you buy an isolator switch for this, now I know why. Using the switch has helped if you remember to use it every time you are going to leave the car for more than a day and don't mind losing all your radio presets every time, but now, after around six years even that can't stop the power drain and the charger can't fix it. I now need a new battery, I think I'll try the Bosch!”

“Bought one of these as it was supposed to be 'the choice battery' - it packed up within the warranty period, 2 years.MX5 parts replaced it with another, this then packed up in less time than the first - except that the warranty starts from the first battery purchase date, not the from the replacement - so even though it packed up within a year, I couldn't for claim for it because it wasn't covered - my advice would be to have your money back and buy same again and get the 2 year warranty, or buy a BOSCH as I have done”

“Had nothing but trouble with this battery, would drain when not used, so had to disconnect after each journey. Brought the special trickle charger to go with it, a complete waste of money. The only battery to have given me problems over the years in not holding the charge. Flat as a pancake to today so the last straw, will look for normal battery from now on.”

“Could'nt find a battery anywhere of the right size. Read the reviews on the Wesco and I was sold. Received today 5th Nov fitted in 10 minutes. Found no battery tray so that's on order, now just the vent pipes to source.Thank you Mx5parts for your fantastic service”
