About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I am over the moon with this product. I never write reviews but feel I need to with this to help others. I suffered with extremely heavy and painful periods for the last 10 years. I'm now 40. This is my second cycle of using the moon cup. I have had no leaks previously I would leak onto my clothes and bed sheets and honestly didn't leave the house for the two heaviest days of my cycle as I had to dash to the bathroom. With this you don't feel anything passing like I did previously also I haven't had any menstrual cramps I don't know how that works but I used to get one very painful day and a couple of sleepless nights that hasn't happened this cycle. The downside it would be difficult to use in a public toilet as you really need a sink to hand. Yes it is messier and I found it a little painful to remove the first cycle but that's not a problem now there is a knack to it. As my friend says it's probably the same as fitting a contact lense just something you get used to! It has improved my quality of life massively I've been swimming twice and leave the house without worrying. Just wish I had tried this years ago. The other benefits are obviously that you don't need to remember to buy sanitary products and there is nothing for the bathroom bin. I hope this review convinces you to try one and you have the same success as me.

20 years ago a friend of mine recommended a menstrual cup to me and I thought it was weird and disgusting. I WAS SO WRONG! Having used mine for around 7 months now I really wish I had listened to my friend all those years ago.You know that cringey dragging sensation you get when removing a tampon? And the feeling that is leaving behind loads of fibres? You don't get that. For me, that's a massive plus.I trust it more then I trust a tampon. It holds more, it's more comfortable & I honestly sometimes forget I'm even on my period. Not forgetting the environmental aspect which was the thing that made me buy one eventually! If you try it, give it 3-4 cycles to get used to it. It can be tricky to get the hang of but, once you do, it will change how you feel about your period. There are downsides, admittedly - I came on a week early whilst camping and (luckily!) had my mooncup with me. I was a bit unsure as to how I would get on with using it in a busy toilet block on a campsite. I managed it by just tipping the blood down the loo and then wiping the cup out with tissue. It was a bit messy & I think tampons would have been easier, logistically! However, the benefits still (for me) massively outweigh this very minor negative.

I bought this on a whim a few months back. It has taken me 4 (FOUR!!) cycles, but I *think* I finally have got the hang of it. I don’t think I can give any tips that aren’t already here - but if you’re struggling with it it’s well worth persevering if you want it to work. I had hoped I would be one of those magical ‘I just put it in and had no leaks whatsoever’ people, but in truth, I think the first cycle I had one day where I didn’t leak, second and third were hit and miss, and now I finally seem to have the hang of it. Probably a 95% success rate this time around. Hopefully soon I’ll be 99-100%!I previously used tampons which I thought I was quite happy with, but what I love about the mooncup is not having the string of a tampon interfering with my day, and that feeling of knowing it needs to be changed! As I say, I’m not completely there yet - this cycle is the first one I have been confident enough to go out on some days without additional back up. I’m hoping I’ll be there before the end of the year!I’d recommend it definitely, just bear in mind it’s not as straightforward as it may appear for every single person who uses it.

Does what it says on the tin! Find the silicone on this product quite hard, takes a bit of adjustment, at times can still feel it inside (a problem I wouldn't have had with a tampon) it wouldn't put me off using it though. Trimmed the stem but now I'm more used to the product I possibly trimmed a little to short.

This is a great product - and the brand's website has loads of useful information. However, don't be fooled by the listings selling 2 or 7 moon cups or the subscribe function - you only need one and it will last you up to 10 years.

This little gem is a game changer!! Don’t get me wrong it takes a bit of getting used to, there is the inserting and removing, plus more ‘reality’ of your period, but it has improved my periods no end. I can sleep without 2 giant pads making me feel like Boss Baby, I can go to work without doing the surreptitious toilet - pocketed towel/tampon shuffle. I literally forget for much of the day that I am ‘on’. No smell, no leaks, no towels pulling out pubes! Sorry. But we all know it happens! The only things I will say in warning are it’s bigger than you might expect, but just fold and push. If you can’t locate - do as the website says and bear down. Or have a root around, just keep chilled. Have a wine if needs be. Major warning is Nails.... say no more...! But overall - Jesus there is no going back. I sleep like normal - not on a towel, with a makeshift nappy. I wear whatever I want. Don’t mind that I will be ‘on’ on holiday, it won’t show. And to my shame forgot so much I went for a wax... no problem though. Honestly try it, and don’t get scared. It’s worth it!!!

So instruction said that size B are for women who are under 30 and had no kids.. So i ended up buying size A which i later realised was far to big for me as although i'm over 30, i haven't had kids. After purchasing the size B, it took persistent of practice to fold the cup and insertion. But after 3 cycles, i can safely say it works!! You know when you have it in place in there as you hear this slight pop feeling. I'm so fascinated how much blood it collects from my body and best of all, you really don't get that period smell as you do wearing pads/tampons. From a personal opinion though, since using it, the outside bit of my v part seem to have widen slightly... so not sure i'd personally advise young girls who aren't sexual active to use this. But this is just personal experience. As for cleaning, once i've finished with it, i place it in a jar full of hot boiling water and leave it in before cleaning it with light soap and place it back in the bag. Another tip for someone who is a semi bleeder, although i don't leak, probs best to keep a sanitiser and water bottle if you encounter a toilet without a basin inside the cubicle. Handy when you need to empty and wash it. Oh and it doesn't leak! Not even when i'm asleep, jumping around and dancing to a workout or jogging! It's amazing! I rated it 4 star purely to the confusing instructions

Like everyone, I was a bit dubious about using this at first. Now I wouldnt be without it. Once you have mastered the art of getting it in and out, there will be no going back. I would say, dont cut all of the stem off until you have tried it. I did and although I am still able to get it out without too much trouble, having more of the stem would make it easier. The only thing you have to think about with this is being in a bathroom with a sink when it needs emptied. You really dont want to be leaving a cubicle with it then going back in. Also, I wouldnt leave it in longer than 4 hours even when you arent heavy as there can be a bit of a smell. This can be removed by a good wash and a soak in sterliser tablets but it can be really off putting. As a sufferer of endometriosis I really think that has helped. Also its really handy as you dont need to remember to buy anything. It comes in a little bag.
