“It does everything it should. A couple small things, remote interaction is quite slow. And the HDD is really noisy. About time to start fitting SSDs.”
“Sorry to say this is the worst of the 5 humax boxes I have owned. There is no app for remote recording, the picture and sound quality are not as good as my previous humax box and the interface useability is dreadfully none initiative and slow. Even the front lights give you no clue what the box is doing. It's so bad I have plugged my previous box in as well so I can use this one for extra hard disc space when I can bare to or have to use it.”
“This is my fifth Humax going back to 2011. I've usually upgraded as technology developed.
Only one has ever let me down but that after five years hard service (HD failure).
Of the five, the last three have been "refurbished". Each one has been cosmetically immaculate and functionally perfect. If your pride allows, save yourself a few bob.”
“Purchased to save having to have bt, virgin or sky TV, mainly used for recording and pausing live tv, humax records more programs than they are able so more than happy, very disappointed app isn't available as I was excited at getting live tv and recordings on my tablet”
“Generally good modern recorder with good capacity, but it inherits a problem with the aerial loop through, found on the previous model FVP-4000T. The loop through works OK most of the time (when the power saving mode is off as instructed) but the loop through signal cuts out for 10 seconds occasionally and interrupts the signal to other devices connected down the loop. It seems this happens when the PVR switches on to check a pending recording programme.”
“Please read this genuine review. This box does not work on series link. It misses more episodes than it actually records which is infuriating when you have episodes 1 and 3 but not 2 or 4. I phoned Humax within 14 days of purchasing this product. They asked me to perform an automatic channel scan etc. and check the strength of the signal the box was receiving (around 94% in strength so clearly no problems there. No change with series recording which still didn’t function properly. Rang again and was told “these FVP-500Ts have issues with series recording which we’re exploring”. Asked when it would be fixed, no indication given. Asked to return the product for a full refund, told no because it’s now outside 30 days. I know my rights and I rang first well within the 30 days but gave them the opportunity to sort it out. Representative said they would email me this afternoon with a solution and of course they haven’t. Will be asking my card company to get involved. Shocking product and poor customer service. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!”
“Pros: Cheap, easy to set up and easy to use. Decent size hard drive.
Cons: Sound quality isn't that great and can be slow between commands / once you push a button on the remote it can be slow to respond.”
