“Highly recommended. 100 times better than the built in Samsung 65" TV EPG (Electronic Program Guide) which only shows now and next program. The Humax has 8 days ahead programming guide plus record functionality including series link which is great. The mobile app is also super for setting something to record when you are out of the house. Excellent replacement for Sky box, has 98% of the functionality and what seems like a better picture quality even on an SD channel.”

I was really surprised at getting this message on playback of an internal Recording.
It seems as though the unit did not recognise it's own Recording file format.
The only thing I could do was to delete that Recording.

“It is in many ways much better than are old Humax box but the features that are missing are annoying. One in particular is the genre search which allowed you to find all the films available in one week. This was useful but a bit unreliable on the old box, it doesn't exist at all on the new box. Also transfer to another hard drive either doesn't exist or is buried away in some sub menu I haven't found yet.”
“Having left Sky after many years, (... yes, I actually had Sky in analogue ...), my first thought is that this box is refreshingly lightweight and very functional. The remote control buttons and the menu does take a little getting used to, primarily and probably because I was still thinking in Sky Digibox mode, while this has far more similarities with, for example, the Aston Simba.
The connection to online services can be a little slow, and although this criticism is levelled at ITV Hub rather than this receiver, I feel Freesat and Humax could exert some pressure on ITV to improve their on-demand programme search system..
My only real gripes however are:
1. unless I have missed something, the apparent inability to download and record to the receiver's hard drive programmes that are running from on-demand services;
2. the failure of the box to therefore be able to download and record to hard drive a complete series;
3. the fact I can't see anything on the screen when fast-forwarding through a programme, i.e. I have to guess; and
4. the lack of full DiSecQ forcing me to watch my French language services from Hot Bird on a different receiver..
And it's those four which mean I only give this box a "Good" rating, rather than "Very good".”
