Functionally pretty much perfect, the EPG is nicely laid out as is the remote, which is intuitive to use. Plenty of storage space with the 2T version and recordings are easy to find and logically grouped. Sadly build quality is lacking (compared to my old Foxsat HDR and especially my Panasonic DMR-BS750) but i guess this is the result of continual cost cutting and seems to be common to all manufacturers. This wouldn't be so bad if it looked nice but unfortunately it looks a bit like a cheap supermarket job with its hard, shiny plastic, tacky buttons and faux chrome strip. Oh well, you cant have everything, and i keep mine hidden away on a bottom shelf so its rarely noticed!

Having had the previous version of Hamax Sat. Recorder, this newest version has a number of improvements which we are very happy with. We are still discovering all its capabilities.

There were a few problems at first,my old Humax did keep locking so I had to turn it off at the mains. With the new machine you have to set up your favourite channels, with the old machine once you had chosen the channels, they came up each time, i.e. You didn't have to go into favourites. I'm learning how to use my new machine, and I'm sure I'll sort things out. The best thing is I can watch on demand, with my old machine, I had to use plug in adapters, and they never seemed to work.

After years using a humax Foxsat PVR I have found this new 1100S 2TB better in every way. Now recording all I can in HD as plenty of storage , picture and sound quality excellent.

Excellent piece of equipment for someone who doesn't need the additional paid services of Sky or for ex-pats who may not subscribe to Sky.

The 'Freesat' part works well, but two major gripes: 1 you cannot add apps to the 'on demand' function, meaning you are stuck with the very limited choice of entertainment channels, and: 2 the 'record' function does not permit editing of recorded material, so that you cannot remove adverts out of films, for example. The latter deficiency is very annoying.

The machine is fine but I bought it to replace an earlier model that I've had for just 18 months because (a) the extra recording hours; and (b) it was advertised as having the feature: "you can record two programmes while watching live TV". However it turns out that you can only do (b) depending on what channels are involved. If you want to combine BBC1, BBC2 and ITV -- it works. But combine any two of those three with Channels 4 or 5 and it doesn't. No mention of this limitation is made on the website and I feel somewhat aggrieved that I have spent £299 on something that does not fully "do what it said on the tin".

The only feature missing is the lack of customisable folders for recordings. This is something that i used all of the time on the previous model.
