Freesat Recorder HDR-1100S 1TB (Refurbished) Reviews

4.2 Rating 90 Reviews
We got sick of paying ever increasing cost to Sky for programmes we don't use so decided to purchase a Freesat recorder. It's taken a few weeks to sus out the different layouts on screen etc but am really pleased we made the change and will recover the cost within 4 months so it will be a big saving year on year

You certainly couldn't tell it wasnt brand new! It's was immaculate out of the box with all the accessories including an hdmi cable and ethernet cable. The box works great, and I made sure to connect it to the Internet to allow software updates to take place. I had an issue where the first recording I set up seemed to have failed, but on reading online the general advice is after an update / new installation of the box, run it through a few power cycles of turning it off full including at the plug socket and back on again. Since then no issues with recordings. The only other issue is that the hdd sometimes powers down when using the box and if you pause TV it can take a few seconds to spin the disk back up again to pause the TV properly. Other than that all of it works great. The catch features access is great and we use the app to set recordings remotely alll the time (great feature!)

Compared with previous model we used to have it is not as good. The menu of recorded programs is just a long list while on predecessor it would group the episodes. I don't think the image quality is as sharp either - I used to love the crystal clear image. Whilst only 3 months old it blacks out once or twice a night for about 15 seconds - words.

TBH. I haven't used the new box. I bought it for my girlfriend to replace the Foxsat box that had problems. I am still using the Foxsat box. What I have seen of the new NDR-1100S looks nice, with a easy to use interface, and better OSD than the Foxsat. A nice big HDD is good too. I'm sure I will buy another of these when my box finally gives up.

This Freesat box is just like new. I have a smaller version of this box which I bought brand new, you cannot tell them apart in quality and operation. I can recommend these refurbished Freesat boxes whole heartedly.
