Freesat Recorder HDR-1100S 1TB (Refurbished) Reviews

We live in a poor signal area for aerials and inherited a freesat system. Bought the humax to go with it and very impressed. Simple to set up and unobtrusive.

Item arrived incomplete and unable to be used. Returned and another unit exchanged with exactly the same problem. Didn't bother with third time lucky and requested a refund which took 14 days to arrive. Keep clear of Humax Direct and their "refurbished" goods. If you can't buy a similar item then it's definitely not worth the hassle to get a refurbished item £30 cheaper and then have to pay in excess of this to get the thing working. Customer service is atrocious, no apologies, little contact and extremely unhelpful.

Bought to replace Sky after my football team relegated!( only on when I was at the match, anyway) Should have done it years ago. Picture quality superb but sound levels vary from channel to channel. Hardest thing is working the standby buttons!! Great value for a graded product in unused condition . So easy to set up! No downsides so far.

As-new quality except for a plain white box. All accessories looked brand-new and never used. Main Sat reciever box looked brand new with no marks or scratches and the mirror-gloss finish does scratch very easily! Very pleased and glad to save quite a few ££ for the sake of a white box!

This is a good box and alternative to paid subscription tv from Sky or Virgin. Having said that I don't think some of the features on this box are as good as the model it replaced the Humax Freesat+ HDR 1000S, the 1000S had some features this box doesn't namely a display on the front of the unit and there was also more detail on the EPG displayed on TV. The 1000S wasn't perfect though, it inexpicably lost my recorded tv twice in it's short lifetime circa three years, the second time the whole unit had to be replaced when the unit would no longer detect the hard drive, hard drive hadn't failed as it could be heard running, lost all my recordings some of them real gems. I purchased the 1100S, the 1000s is now discontinued. I'm hoping the 1100S proves to be more reliable than the 1000S and lasts somewhat longer than three years with very moderate use.

Changed back to Freesat having given Freeview a try. My personal view is that Freesat has the edge for quality of picture. If you are one of the persons fed up with ever increasing cost from some commercial firms using a satellite dish receiver. You must try this Freesat Humax box. Using your same satellite dish most of the programmes available in HD and many more of the others with no subscription. Image no bills. Just one payment for the box.
