The recorder works well, but for someone who finds digital equipment somewhat daunting, I find that it is not so simple to use as the one I replaced. You seem to have to repeat the pressing of buttons to delete items after watching them, and it does not automatically switch the tv onto Humax when the Humax is switched on! Maybe something I am doing wrong, or do not understand? Much more sophisticated than the one it replaces, new things get harder to use rather than easier!

When I brought a refurbished box I wasn't sure how good it would be, this box does what I needed, not particularly "smart" box but you can use iplayer and get all the HD freeview channels so generally happy.

I had previously used a Humax (PVR-9150T) which served me well and continues to do so, hence when needing another PVR the choice was easy. Humax's reputation and my own user knowledge led me to the HDR-1800T, which I am most pleased with. It works well and was reasonably easy to set up. The user manual could be improved on as it is not always easy to follow. Technology inevitably moves on and that is evident when comparing the old 9150 to the newer 1800 but from a user friendly perspective the 1800 may be considered by some as a little too complex.

FORGET THE TERM 'REFURBISHED'. SUBSTITUTE 'NEW' AS THERE IS NOT A MARK ON THE UNIT. EXCELLENT BUY.
