Boker Plus XS Heinnie® Edition Folding Knife Reviews

4.6 Rating 40 Reviews
Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

The Boker Plus XS has been one of the most popular UK carry folders of recent times. The substantial, sub three inch, non-locking blade has a great deal of resistance in the slip joint mechanism making it a superb choice for your everyday carry, using knife.
This little beauty has now had the Heinnie® treatment to add to its appeal. Exclusive to us and with a unique serial number* on the back of the blade this is a cracking addtion to your beloved Heinnie® collection and a superbly practical knife to boot.
The handle is, of course, red G10 and for this model, the blade is made using 440C stainless steel and it's razor sharp out of the box. Dual thumb studs make it left hand friendly and a firm pocket clip enables ease of carry.
These knives are serial numbered, but sadly we're not able to select a particular number for each order.

The knife is attractive and sharp out of the box, with a secure spring. Unfortunately, the clip is not screwed on particularly securely. The clip screws tend to loosen and fall out, causing clip itself to become loose. This means the knife can unexpectedly fall out of your pocket. It is not easy to replace the screws either, since they are a non-standard size.

If XS stands for 'extra small', then the XL would scare the daylights out of Joe Public! It is a serious-looking knife! One-handed opening requires a strong hand as the spring is strong and the pivot point doesn't make it easy (although the action may ease off with time). The knife opens with a menacing click, resembling a flick knife, and it stays in place as though locked, thanks to the strong spring. One handed closing requires great care. It needs a strong push to begin closure, after passing that point it could easily snap shut on your fingers. I know. I bled. It is as sharp as a scalpel, out of the box.I wanted a UK-legal knife for confident carry, and this was the closest that I could find to my Spyderco Insistent.

Bad points first shallow pocket clip I prefer a deep carry also only two positions for clip either left or right hand side point up I myself prefer point down but then that's me good points excellent opening action solid lock up and positive snap once opened by one hand action nice and sharp hair shaving sharp love the red micarta scales yet to use on game but expect it will cope oh forgot no lanyard hole needs one my opinion this is a fine uk legal carry but could do with a few additions see above but will be my daily carry from now on

Absolutely solid all rounder of a knife. I have 2 and recently bought a third as a friend's first proper pocket knife.

Really great knife, great opening action, doable one handed opening. Stiff lock up, with two stages, nice choil so you don't worry about catching your fingers when closing. Sharp out of the box.

Great knife for the money. Not premium steel, but I wanted something for the allotment and jobs where I wouldn't mind too much if the knife gets muddy or takes a bit of a beating. It comes nicely presented, and was razor sharp out of the box. Not perfectly centred, but nothing that affects use. The hollow grind is unusual (at least to me) but it looks great and will re-sharpen well, I'm sure. It's a nice versatile 'slicey' shape - lots of blades seem overly thick these days. The back spring is very stiff. Almost too stiff for one handed use. I can flip this open, and a two handed open/close feels safer. The thumb stud is a little sharp, but I could take that down with some fine wire wool or something if I wanted. I was initially disappointed in the lack of a deep carry clip, but actually this works well for grabbing it with gloves onor with mucky hands you don't want to shove into your pockets.Anyway, it's a great knife for £42. I suspect my wife might want one for her allotment bag too!
