“We chose to go twycross zoo and to be honest it wasn't the best experience we had there, it was way to busy, most animals were inside and the queues was massive to go see the animals and having a Sen child that is not ideal, I mean any child it's not ideal. It was around 12pm and the animals still weren't out which I can't understand why the animals are all inside when they open alot earlier. We ended our day out alot earlier than expected because we was so disappointed to not see many animals”
“Lots of fun to be had! A good day out for the family. Unfortunately lots of areas were having work so unaccessible to us but we still spent a good 4-5 hours here. Kiosks were closed which was a shame but lots of picnic areas to enjoy. It can get very busy so we personally avoid peak times so we can take our time.”
“Pros - Mostly clean, mapped out well, lots to see, some things to do (could be more and better) ie more face paint stalls in the summer.
Staff were all good around people from my experience, plenty of bins provided and safety measures implemented (sanitiser mats) etc.
Could maybe use some more hand sanitiser stations, anyway great place to go!
Con - my only main con was the food, little bit dear but still manageable by the average family having a day out but the quality and option for the price was not good ...
Still the place is great to take a picnic and the new water area is amazing for the children, I recommend people to go!”
“I recently visited Twycross Zoo and had a fairly mixed experience overall. On the positive side, the ticket prices were reasonable, making it an accessible option for a day out. It was nice to be able to get out, enjoy some fresh air, and spend time walking around the grounds.
However, I do feel that the overall experience did not fully justify the cost. A number of facilities, including shops, were closed during the visit, which limited the experience and convenience. In addition, several enclosures were under repair or construction, resulting in a reduced number of animals to see. This made parts of the zoo feel quite sparse and less engaging than expected.
While there is clear investment going into improvements, and the zoo has potential, the current state means it falls slightly short of expectations. I would consider returning in the future once more areas are open and fully operational, but for now, it was an average visit.”
“A lovely zoo, I went to as a child myself now I’m taking my child full circle moment. It’s not too big where you feel it’s hard to walk around and see everything. Lots of places to have a picnic or buy food to eat there. Variety of animals big and small. Definitely recommend a visit if you’ve never been before.”
