“Just the thing for consistent proving and it folds down flat so doesn’t add to the kitchen clutter or you could take it with you on your travels! Maaarvellous!”
“Only used once but very impressed. Sets up in seconds but took a couple of minutes to get it so no noticeable gaps. Used water tray. Easy instructions (I set it for 25°). Did first prove (1 hour) in large bowl without covering and stayed moist. Second prove in 2 x 2lb tins and rose well. Baked well and tasted perfect. Saved probably 3 hours of cost of central heating replaced by cost of a light bulb. Stores back in box and takes little space.”
“I confess I found this appliance a disappointment and certainly not a must have for bakers as another reviewer asserts. At lower temperatures such as those for proofing dough, the temperature control was pretty unreliable and using the dish with water in it to aid humidity still led to the dough drying on the surface so ended up using a bag in the proofer. After a month or two of experimenting with proofing using this, I gave up on it and relied on my old methods of airing cupboard, sunny window ledges etc. we’re I to rate this purely on its baking benefits, I’d give it only one star.
However, for yoghurt making and slow cooking it worked well. 4, maybe 5 stars for that functionality. The higher temperatures seem better controlled, or perhaps are less critical than for proofing. I would go so far as to say this is a waste of money for breadmakers!”
“Used the proofer last week for the first time. Extremely simple to use. Worked very well with my Russian (woops) Rye Bread and was ideal with a good rise at low temperature over a long proofing.
A bit flimsy as others have mentioned online, but this is mainly due to being collapsible and easy to store. Would definitely recommend.”
