Got a Question?

having recently ordered organic fresh yeast I noticed that it only had five days left before the use by date I used it and found that the dough didnt rise at all it remained very flat - how can I make sure when ordering the organic fresh yeast again that it will have a longer use by date?
Asked by Rita (5 days ago)
Hi Rita, Thank you for your question. We don't get a long date on the fresh yeast as it contains no preservatives or additives to prolong the shelf life. It seems strange that your yeast did not give any results, as i have used fresh yeast well beyond its best before date with great success. The fresh yeast starts to loose it potency if used with water that is above 30°C so make sure that your water is not too hot when using it. We tend to get deliveries from Agrano on Tuesdays with fresh stock.

The description suggests this is for a 500g boule. Do you mean a boule made with 500g of flour plus starter if sourdough?
Asked by Wendy Law (4 months ago)
Hi Wendy, The suggested weights are dough weights in total with flour, starter, salt and water. Hope this helps.
