“Difficult to level on uneven surfaces, particularly on carpet. The stands don't have much mass, nor do you have a real opportunity to introduce more mass. You can only fill two pillars with sand. Apparently, if you do this it will take all day and not improve the situation much. The 36 inch stands get a tippy at the top of the speaker. Especially if the speaker is on the lighter side. They may work a bit better on wood or tile floors. I suspect things get a bit better on shorter versions.
In my view not a serious high end stand. I have others that do a better job.”
Thank you for your comments. We agree this is not a 'serious' high end stand - which is why it is priced so low. Pangea also makes a 'serious' stands starting at $200. To improve stability on all our stands we recommend a product called Blutack to bond the speaker to the stand. For maximum stability on carpet, we recommend leveling the stand with the supplied spikes and nuts and then pressing down firmly so the spikes penetrate deep into the carpeting before placing the speaker on top.
“I have looked at these stands for years, but didn't know if they would work for me. Upon getting them, they work much better than I imagined. However, if you want to fill them with anything, the holes are so small it would have to be very fine, such as play sand or liquid, as the hole isn't much more than a slot in the weld. The holes for the cable are small enough that if you have decent cables, the connectors will have to be removed and reinstalled after exiting the tube. Most of stands I have seen have fill holes big enough for lead shot then insert plug for cover. Except for these two items, I'm very pleased with them. I'm not going to fill them anyway and wiring issue isn't a problem, just drill out a little bit.”
“A very sexy speaker stand easily worth twice the price I paid. Very easy to assemble. Packaged well, came in mint condition. I assembled the bottom plate of the base backwards so that it would be less likely to tip forward. Took me around 15 minutes. What took the longest time was taking all the parts out of the individual corrugated tubes - they are very carefully packaged.”
