“The Flipper device was simple to program to control both the Television and the Virgin media v6 Set Top Box. I choose the first code numbers listed for the Sony TV and the Virgin media STB and it worked first time. I had practiced, the previous day, on a Samsung TV and a Sky Q STB and got into some difficulties with the STB programming. I contacted Tom, at ALZ product support, who responded quickly with excellent advice, enabling me to complete the practice programming”

We are sorry to hear our customer has had difficulties setting up the Flipper remote. It is the most compatible remote and we can advise that we do offer technical support on all of our products. However, we appreciate setting up the flipper can be challenging for some customers and so we do offer assistance with this process over telephone or email. “I purchased the Flipper to operate a TV with a Virgin set top box in Ireland for an elderly relation who was finding it very hard to use the dual Virgin Media Ireland remote, which I suggest is particularly unfriendly as in my opinion it is very cluttered and does not use colour is differentiate its various functions. Firstly the bad news. I got the Flipper to control the TV (on/off and volume) but unfortunately I could not get it to work with the Virgin STB because as far as I can work out it operates on RF whereas the Flipper uses IR. It is possible the Flipper might have worked with earlier Virgin STBs in Ireland as according to some blogs I read they might have used IR. My observations only relate to my experience with the Virgin STB in Ireland. I do not have any experience of the operation of Virgin STBs in the UK. Now the good news. Firstly, I received great advice and assistance from Tom in AlzProducts to try to sort out the issue. In the end in order to resolve the matter, we moved our relation from Virgin to Saorview, an Irish equivalent to Freeview. Her television has a built-in digital tuner so she can use the TV remote to select the channels. This then allowed us to tune in the Flipper to the TV as it uses IR so in the end we got the result we wanted – using a remote with very clear controls to operate the TV and channels.”
