“Ordered a nail fungal treatment but later received a refund notice stating that following a review of my medical history( as provided by myself) it was not recommended for me due to my diabetes and I should consult my own GP. This I promptly did. Only to be told that there was no contradiction with anti fungal teatments. My personal view is that the Independent Pharmacy while very well intentioned, put me through a period of concern over my health concerns unnecessarily. Also told the fungal treatment is not an effective treatment. As a diabetic foot care is extremely important. Maybe put a clear statement that for any fungal foot care products that diabetics should consult their GP as to the suitability for their treatment.”

We understand that dealing with nail infections can be frustrating, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify why certain treatments may not be recommended for people with diabetes. I am also sorry to hear that our response may have caused you concern as we certainly did not intend for that. Our goal is always to provide clear and helpful information, and we would have been more than happy to discuss this further with you directly. We usually encourage patients to speak with us if they have any concerns as this allows us to address questions in more detail and ensure clarity. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any further correspondence from you beyond our initial email stating that we were unable to provide this treatment. If there has been any misunderstanding regarding what was communicated, we’d be happy to speak with you further. In regards to diabetic foot care, patients typically have annual podiatry appointments to assess foot health, along with other routine check-ups as part of their overall care. Due to this, diabetic patients are generally advised to stick to one provider for foot-related concerns as footcare is extremely important in this group of patients and this helps ensure appropriate monitoring of the condition. The order was therefore refunded in full and I have raised your feedback with our clinical team for consideration at the next procedure review to help further improve the clarity of our communications.
