“I have to say that I am a little disappointed with the brush. It looks great but does not really brush the tangles out of my hair. Everyone told me how great the brushes were but once I have used mine I then go onto use the comb and find I still have knots and tangles in my hair.”

Hi Louise, thank you for your review of your new brush. If your hair is quite thick you may have to section the hair and take your time detangling. “Didn’t do anything miraculous for my wavy/curly hair. Smells terrible. Seemed to cause less frizz than my Wetbrush so there’s that. Overall, would not purchase again.”

Sorry to hear that the D38 did not do anything miraculous for your hair. Whilst this brush can be used on wet hair we do not recommend using it in the shower due to the air hole in the pad, this can cause the brush to smell as water can enter behind the pad. Allow the brush to dry naturally out of direct sunlight. Regards Nicola

“I bought this head hugger brush as a spare for holidays as I am so pleased with the one that I already have. However, although it’s the same size and shape the bristles are much softer. It doesn’t hold the hair firmly when blow drying and doesn’t give as good a finished result. In conclusion I’m disappointed with it.”

“This is an updated review. I gave it a terrible review at first, but then I did research. All over the internet. I came across a girl who gives informative advice and videos on curly hair one a few were on the Denman brush. I stuck with her method and it worked much better. Please keep a water bottle in reach. Your hair HAS to be soaked and slicked with product! Experiment different ways using it. Look up videos. Read. I’ll give probably want to revise my review again, you gotta practice.”

“This brush seems fine, but for all the talk about it, I would expect something more. It does brush through my tangly hair better than my old brush, and my hair looks pretty nice after brushing and my curls are better defined. However, I wouldn't say it's doing all that much for my curls, and it's all plastic and reminds me of the brush I had as a kid. Time will tell how well it holds up.”

“Website was great and easy to place an order and happy with the price, however one of the clips I purchased has only lasted a couple of uses and has now split on the 'handle' section in which you push to open the clip. I found this a little disappointing and not reassuring for the quality of the other two identical clips that I purchased at the same time. I've never had a quality issue before with Denman products and the only reason for repurchasing is misplacing the clips however this time maybe this won't be the case. Time will tell on the quality of the remaining two I am now left with. Delivery took longer than stated but this was with Royal Mail shortly before Christmas so I am aware they were busier than normal.”

“Can the same brush be made in a bit more softer heads please. The brush heads in this item is hard and kind of sharp.”

“Have used the Denman brush since the 1970s. The handle has definitely been downgraded and is not as easy to hold. It is not substantial anymore.”

“It's a lovely brush but having long thin hair I need it to be able to cut though rather than brush the surface. Good for tangles”

When detangling always start at the bottom and work your way up to avoid any breakages. Once your hair is detangled you may find a brush with firmer pins more suitable to cut through your hair, like our D38 brush. “Had one that lasted me for literally 10 years. It was finally time to replace it, got it about a week ago and bristles are already falling out. Disappointed, won’t reorder.”

“It’s a nice brush if you want to a do a smooth ponytail without any hair coming out….but at the same time your scalp hurts when you brush, as the bristles feel quite harsh on your scalp….people with sensitive scalp shouldn’t be using it….!!!!!!”

“I had the classic black brush with clear bristles (which broke) & chose the blue one with black bristles for a change. Are the black bristles harder & sharper or is it because the brush is new? Will they soften over time?”

Hi there, thanks for sharing your thoughts about your new brush - we appreciate it! Over time the nylon in the pins does soften and become more flexible. Within a couple of weeks, your scalp will adjust to how the new brush feels. The extra stimulation might feel a little uncomfortable although some people love it. In the long run, it's really good for your scalp as it encourages blood flow and new growth. I hope this helps! “The wrap (design) on the brush is done very well. I removed stars based off the handle of the brush. It’s too short (one star) and too thin (one star). I can’t use the handle to brush my hair, and instead I have to hold it up by the back of bristles. Disappointing since my hair isn’t long or thick, but instead the handle is useless.”

We do have a slightly larger brush in this style, this is our D4 brush which you may find a better fit for you. Our D4 does not come in the Tiger design but we do have some lovely colours.
