An efficiently handled claim - thank you for your help

Excellent service. Quick and easy to make a claim. Megan was brilliant from the claims team in getting the right resolution. The only downfall is that for a like for like replacement with inflation prices have gone up for which I had to pay the difference. This is not a reflection the the service however, the insurance should take into account any inflation and should allow for a premium to be paid to pay less for a like for like. Had to pay nearly £400 for the same watch. After the purchase I was advised I could have looked at another place to buy the like for like by which at that time the purchase was done and links were taken out. Would have been embarrassing to say “sorry but insurance have advised me to refund as I can get it cheaper elsewhere”. Again no fault of the claims handler.

Personal jewellery insurance is a specialist product, and cover is usually up to the value shown on your policy schedule which is why we at TH March might sometimes be viewed as repetitive with our advice about the importance of getting regular valuations on jewellery and watch items and making sure the sums you are insuring are adequate. The advice is there to help our customers avoid being underinsured in the event of a claim. The values of jewellery and watches fluctuate according to the price of raw materials, to fashions and trends, as well as other factors. We would highly recommend customers speak to their jeweller about how often they ought to have their items re-valued. We do really appreciate your feedback on this matter and although we're glad that you are not viewing your experience as a reflection on our team's service, it's important for us to continually ensure our communications are as clear and helpful as they can be. Previously we have had to cover the repair and replacement costs ourselves for damaged jewellery, however after recently taking out insurance cover, this time THM responded promptly and confirmed they would cover our claim for repairing my wife cluster ring when she noticed a diamond missing. The only reason for not giving a full 5 stars is that it was not made clear to me we were missing a form I need to sign and share with our jeweller in order for him to process the claim. All good now, ring sparkling again, its just a pity about the delay in finalising the claim.

This is our standard process which the team regularly make the effort to explain in full to customers, and which usually flows so smoothly for our customers making claims, so we must apologise if we fell short on this occasion. Thankfully this caused only a minor delay in the settlement of your claim, and we are delighted to hear you report back that all is well and the ring is sparkling once more! It is very important to us that we act on customer feedback like yours so that we can continue to make improvements. Currently we provide to the customer the acceptance form you mention together with the formal letter that confirms authorisation of the claim, and in some cases - such as yours - we also speak with the jeweller to verify the settlement process and provide a copy to them of the acceptance form. It is part of TH March’s mission to give our customers dedicated support during a claim, so it is imperative we make this process clear throughout the claims journey for all customers. If you feel there is a way the process could be made more clear, we would keenly welcome any feedback so that we may review our processes. Absolutely great service from the team. It would have been five stars but the claim form advised that I needed to report my loss to the Police! This is no longer the case it is all online. Please update your form. Or maybe ask your representatives to advise clients who are already traumatised at their loss.

Dear Susan We are delighted we were able to be there for you when you needed us and that you found the service absolutely great. Thank you for taking the time to provide your 4 star feedback. It is common practice for insurance companies to make it compulsory that losses are reported to the police, and policy documents will often stipulate this. In turn, we have to make sure we convey such necessary terms and conditions to our customers. This requirement means that the loss must be reported through whatever means the customer’s police station (local to the incident, be that home or away, even abroad) demands. Sometimes police stations offer online forms, but not always. This is why we have to ask this question very generically (“must be reported to the police”). We really do appreciate the feedback, and it is something to raise with the insurance companies we work with on how this might be better worded so the meaning is clear to all. It’s really important to us that our customers feel supported, particularly at times like this when they need us the most, so the more we can do to improve what we do the better. Good but should be better --The process was good and price competitive. The reason why I gave 4 stars was because the online quote and policy document stated my name incorrectly. I had to call and speak to a customer advisor to get the documents changed. This survey also has my name stated incorrectly!

Happy with service --Had tried to use the on line registration, but it was not sending all the relevant information. However I phoned the following morning and spoke to a very helpful member of staff who guided me through an alternative option and everything got sorted easily. So it’s 4 stars for the on line hiccup but would give 5 stars for the member of staff

Recommended by the Jewellers --Easy to do and recommended by the jewellers. Haven’t given 5 stars as I have no experience (and hope not to have) of how they are when problems arise. Other than that my experience would be 5 star!

5* if website didn't crash several times --easy forms to fill out, reasonably priced insurance but website did crash several times while trying to process quote resulting in me having to re enter details over and over making the simple form not so easy hence to 4* rating. All sorted now so I'm happy.

Engagement ring insurance --I applied for my ring insurance prior to receiving my ring and valuation certificate, so I had to guesstimate the value. I was a few pounds out but this didn't affect the insurance cost. I spoke to a T H March representative on the phone who reassured me that everything would be resolved once I had sent in my valuation certificate. I was able to scan the document and e-mail it to T H March which saved me a lot of hassle. All in all I'm very satisfied with the support T H March have provided.

Good service. --Was very easy to get a quote and it was the cheapest quote I had found for jewellery insurance. It was very easy to send in the extra details they needed to insure my items. A no hassle, very simple service.

Recently purchased an engagement ring and the shop recommended this company . Very easy to fill out online and purchase . Hopefully if the worst happens and we make a claim they will be able to sort it all out .
