Only ok. No good for sticky foods left behind in the pan.

We love them, Loofah fibres are naturally coarse and have good scrubbing power, yet gentle enough for non-scratch pans. If you require more heavy-duty cleaning, we suggest our copper scourers or washing-up brush

Hello James, the sponge scourers need to be dried out before they can be packaged and dispatched to customers. We would suggest rinsing under water and giving them a little massage before use to soften up. The sponges will become softer upon continued use with washing-up liquid. They will also soften up with usage, so the longer you use it, the softer and more malleable it gets. You can speed this up by popping it into the washing machine or dishwasher a few times.

I had high expectations for these sponges as an eco-friendly alternative, but the product did not perform as hoped. After only a little over a week of use, the sponge began to deteriorate, with the softer side separating from the more abrasive scourer layer. While I had noticed similar concerns mentioned in other reviews, I decided to try the product regardless, but unfortunately my experience has confirmed those issues. The concept is admirable, and I appreciate the effort to create a sustainable household item. However, durability is a key factor, and in this case the product falls short. I will need to explore other options that better balance sustainability with functionality!

Hello Ken, we are so delighted that you have tried our sponge scourers. I am sorry if you have felt they have come up short for you. They are made from natural materials, which can be more difficult to work with than plastic. They do go through a quality control but the odd one does slip through it. We would be really happy to have a look at what has gone on with your sponge if you could get in touch with us at hello@theseepcompany. com

Hello Cathy, we are sorry that this happened to your sponge, but hope that we were able to address this for you when you got in touch with us at hello@theseepcompany.com :-)

The scourer came apart in two on first use (it was in fact separating before I even put it in the water). The tough scorer half is very inflexible and makes scrubbing quite hard work. In fact I may have to separate the rest in the box if I am to use them, because the sponge part is at least useable when separated from the scourer part. Also, food bits immediately became embedded in the scourer part and it's rather annoying having to pick them out!! I'm really disappointed because I had heard alot about this product and I wanted to like it.

We're delighted you gave us a try and sorry our products didn't measure up this time. If you could email us at hello@theseepcompany.com, we'll sort this out for you. In the meantime, here is a little more about our sponges. On average, they last 1-2 months each. They are made from loofah, which is stitched to the cellulose wood pulp by a natural cotton thread, so they are 100% plastic-free and can be home composted. We have pretty good quality control for all of our products and check each batch that goes out of our factories, but unfortunately, some not-quite-right products do occasionally slip through.

It is very stiff to begin with and takes a while to loosen up and use but also the sponge flakes after a couple of washes. You really have to scrub to get grit off utensils so I am going through them faster than I hoped. As food gets stuff in some the tough side I spend longer cleading it to avoid it smelling.

I ordered some 30L compostable bin liners along with Eco Sponge Scourers. I can't comment on the latter yet, but I'm very disappointed with the bin liners. I know they're compostable but they're not fit for purpose as bin liners - too fragile and rapidly falling apart if there's anything moist in the rubbish, so that they dump the contents on the floor when removing them from the bin. I've had to double bag them, which is neither ecologically nor financially sound.

Hello Anthony, we are sorry that you have found this. Our compostable liners are made from Mater-Bi, which is one of the strongest biopolymers on the market, developed over many years of scientific research. Plant-based, compostable plastics do require more care than oil-based plastic; the liners should not be overfilled and should be emptied more regularly when coming into contact with food/organic waste. As food/organic waste starts to rot and break down, it causes the liners to start decomposing (proof that they are doing their job!). They can take time to get used to, as they are very different from what we normally use. Here are a few key points that might help. Store in a cool, dry place Shelf life of 12 months (will then start to naturally break down) Avoid coming into contact with: hot liquids, grease/oil, wool/animal products, dust Do not overfill, remember they are liners (not sacks) Change your liner more frequently if coming into contact with food waste, particularly meat products: as these start to rot they cause the liners to decompose faster Keep your bin in a cool, dry place to help prolong the life of the liners.

I decided to use my new gloves to tidy up areas where paint brushes had been left soaking. Unfortunately the duluted white spirit melted the gloves, so they lasted 30 seconds. Disappointing.

Hello, sorry that you feel this but our gloves are one of the first natural rubber household gloves to market in the UK that have passed biodegradability testing (in accordance with ASTM D5511). They have been specially developed to biodegrade.

I had high hopes for these Seep sponges, but they haven’t lived up to expectations. I bought them because I’m concerned about microplastics from traditional sponges, and I really wanted these to work. Initially, they seemed promising, but it quickly became clear they were designed by someone who uses a dishwasher rather than washing up by hand. The claim that they last eight weeks feels optimistic — after just two weeks, the scouring side was already detaching from the sponge. And “scouring” is generous; it struggled to scrub off any cooking residue. Overall, I’m disappointed and won’t be buying these again.

Sorry to hear this. We would say that they should last about 4 weeks, but our customers have found that they can/do last longer. Did you ever get in contact with us at hello@theseepcompany.com with your problem?

Out of the trial pack I have only used so far the copper scourer and washing up sponge. The scourer is great however I am very disappointed with the washing up sponge as the white scourer part split after only five days of use. I want to reduce my use of plastic but alternatives must be of good quality especially as they are often a lot more expensive. I have a second sponge so hope to have a better experience. Disappointed.

Very disappointed with this product. It doesn’t clean pots and pans anywhere near as efficiently as a much cheaper sponge/scourer, so the only plus factor is that it is supposedly more environmentally friendly because it decomposes. But as far as I understand, most councils won’t accept for recycling as the product takes too long to decompose. I bought ‘6 months’ supply for £25. For that amount I could be using a new sponge/scourer every 2 days. As it is I use maybe 3 in a fortnight - so I’m better off, the dishes and pots are cleaner and the environment is irrelevant.

Hello, Sorry that you feel that way. If you cut them up when you have finished with it then pop them in the food waste bin/ garden waste or a compost heap. if you are repotting any plants they are great to go in the bottom of the pot as it will hold water so the plant doesn't dry out so quickly while they breakdown. If you are having a problem with then please get in touch with us at hello@theseepcompany.com

I was really looking forward to trying these and keen to use them as they are natural and compostable. But… they are very inflexible and haven’t softened up during use. Very difficult to wash cups and glasses etc disappointed

Have you tried putting it in the washing machine as this will soften it up to make it more malleable to use. The more it is used the malleable it will get.

The Seep wash up pad is coming to pieces as the loofah and the sponge part are separating after 14 days of normaluae.. Not what I hoped for.

I had hoped to find a product that was useable, but this is too stiff and does not clean well at all. I persevered in case it took a while to soften but it doesn’t make cleaning easier at all.

I ordered the eco spot he scourers which are supposed to last a month. In under one week the scourer was coming away from the sponge and parts of the sponge were coming away. I would not expect this to last a month if this was happening after less than one week.

Although the product is good I was disappointed with the "Save £5" offer. Had I paid the full price (£25) delivery would have been free, however on taking up the offer to save £5, I discovered that there was a £3.95p delivery charge, which wasn't mentioned until reaching the payment section, so when that was added the actual saving was £1.05p not the advertised £5. This may affect my future relationship with the company as I will definitely scrutinise any offer closely before committing to purchase.

I so wanted this eco-scourer to be an effective replacement for my usual supermarket scourer, but it simply is not at all effective. For tea stains, grease, dried food etc this just seems to float over the surface rather than getting any purchase, so I have to resort to my old scourer. My first eco-scourer started to disintegrate after a couple of days of washing up for 2 people. It has also discoloured to a dirty grey, despite washing it. There should be a way of returning them - an expensive mistake.

My experience was great until I recenly, when bought a years supply of scourers and they were so much slimmer than all the previous ones and now only last a couple of weeks at the most! I thought I was going to get what I've been ordering for 2 years! I feel I should have been told they would be less durable and long lasting. in fact I'd like to send them back and have them replaced with the old ones as actually I feel Ive been ripped off :~((
