About The British Blanket Company:

The British Blanket Company is a family-run business bringing colour, comfort and warmth to homes all over the UK and beyond. Founded by siblings Bethan and Joe, we’re passionate about creating beautiful blankets that feel as good as they look.

Our designs begin in our Bristol studio, where we pair joyful colour palettes with timeless patterns. Each blanket is then woven at traditional mills around the British Isles using natural, sustainable fibres like wool and recycled cotton.

What makes us special is our focus on quality, craftsmanship and sustainability. We work closely with our makers and choose materials that are kind to both people and the planet.

“The blanket is really nice but the gift box isn't worth the extra £7. It's basically just a dispatch box and was sent in a plastic mailing bag so arrived torn and a bit bashed.”

“Please consider the packaging. I will happily pay for a gift box like Neom, Me & Em, Aspinall et al. The package arrived in the pouring rain and it was perishing so I’m glad and relieved I was in. To make it look like a luxurious gift, which it is, I’ll have to work my magic so it doesn’t look like it’s come from T K Max. I understand your mission but I do think the packaging is worth reconsidering.”

“The blanket itself is gorgeous - lovely to look at and soft to the touch. However, it's really difficult to roll it into the leather strap. Even at home (ie not at the beach or outside) I can't roll it up small enough to fit easily into the leather strap. So I'm having to keep it in a bag. Perhaps consider changing the dimensions of the strap a little and/or provide a moth-proof bag for storing the blanket. Thanks!”

“Love my recycled blankets. Sent out very promptly. Only disappointment being that I ordered 3 and they were all the same. As the website had gone on about them all being unique I was expecting them to be different.”

“I needed to find a gift for a relative at short notice and decided to order two blankets from The British Blanket company to be able to compare them and to choose one I like more. I was impressed with a very fast delivery, also returns process was very straightforward. However I wasn't happy with the quality of the blankets. Both of them were described as "soft", but none of them actually was, wool is very rough, spiky and has a strong smell of sheep. It would be acceptable for a rustic style but it wasn't what I have expected based on pictures and overall impression from the brushed and polished website. I've chosen the blanket which smelled less but I'd return it as well if not an urgent need. I'm leaving 4 stars for the speed of delivery, website and as an expression of my sympathy to the family businesses. I'd wish however to improve fairness of products' description (to have a scale of softness maybe?) and to work on smell as it was just unbearable for one blanket and just a little bit better for the second one.”

Thank you for your review and your kind words about our service. We use natural wool to make all our blankets. Some customers notice the natural lanolin scent of the wool fibre which many people love, but if it's a concern it will quickly fade with an hour or two outside in the fresh air. Perhaps next time we can help you choose from our merino lambswool selection which have a smoother feel and tend to be preferred by customers who want a very soft feel. “I would have given five stars as my blanket arrived promptly and I love it. I bought it as a throw for my new settee and it looks lovely and is so comfortable. Extra large fits a two seater perfectly. The reason for four not five is that I wanted another waffle blanket in oatmeal and rang for help as I couldn’t find it on the site. I left a message which was never returned, although it said on the message that you check your phone messages regularly.”

“Gorgeously soft and cosy blanket and the coral is a beautiful colour. The small size is plenty big enough as a throw on a chair and to curl up in. Haven't washed it yet.”

“My herringbone blanket is a lovely blend of duck egg blue quite soft. So far it is warm but not been tested on colder nights. Although soft good quality wool it is lighter in weight than I expected; tassles are OK but would have preferred without! The company mailed me when back in stock..5 to 6 weeks.”
