“We attempted to do the veggie option of Shish Kabab where it recommends that paneer is used instead of mince. When it comes to mixing the mince (non-veggie option) the recipe says 'Form each ball into a rough sausage shape. Not applicable for the veggie alternative.' So what do you do for the veggie option? Despite asking 3 times they could not provide an answer and in fact ignored my 3rd email. It should say 'not suitable for vegetarians'. Worst customer service ever (Becky). Non-veggie option was ok though.”

“Tried two curries, Rogan Josh and Balti, followed the recipes to the letter and used all the chillies as like them hot. Unfortunately, whilst they had a "little" heat, they were bland and lacked spice and flavour. Having made curries from scratch before, I think there is nowhere near enough spices supplied in these kits. Overall, overpriced for what you get and disappointing results.”

“Think from seeing all reviews on fb looks like I'm the only one that is disappointed. Arrived quickly enough but think very overpriced for what you get. Should just sell the spices . Husband enjoyed Goan curry however being a real curry fan and haven eaten in some of the best curry houses I was extremely disappointed have to say worst tikka masala I've had. Can't fault quality or freshness of ingredients but just not for me.”

“Ordered 14 December 8 kits, as Xmas gift for daughter. Clearly requested delivery to be with me by 22 December. Order did not arrive although email saying despatched 21 December. Due to holidays was not delivered until late 29th. Could not get to daughter until 30th, already 9 days old. Contacted Tastesmiths via phone and email, but no reply. Understand difficulties BUT they should source a delivery method that is reliable especially with perishable goods. DO NOT RECOMEND.”

Hello, we use Royal Mail 48 as our standard shipping method, RM suggests these will usually 1-3 business days, but over the festive period were experiencing delays. For orders needed on a specific date, we will always recommend using Royal Mails Special Delivery, which is the next day and available on our website. These are also processed separately in our dispatch chain. Full information on our dispatch times, and any delays if they exist our end is available and updated at tastesmiths.com/help

“I specifically ordered a curry to be delivered by a specific date and even sent a follow up email after I had ordered requesting this as it was required as a present..it arrived 2 days late and when i emailed to complain and request a refund i got no response.”

Hello, Royal Mail were experiencing delays over the festive period, we can only apologise on their behalf. Any delays at our end and detailed when ordering and on our help pages, apologies if those weren't clear enough. If orders are required for a specific date we'll always recommend using Royal Mails Special Delivery service, which is guaranteed for next day.

“Unfortunately, I can’t really review your products as they never got here. I ordered them at the beginning of the month, my account was debited on 11 December and somewhere in the world my order is lying around. I have been promised a re-order in the the new year when things calm down a bit. It was a Christmas present for my son!”

“I wasn’t impressed at all. I had Madras and used chicken for it. Poor spices. Seemed like too much pepper. At least i can say ive tried it, although it’s not for me.”

Hi Stuart, sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy coking with us! We advertise our kits as arriving with around 14 days on their dates - this is because they're purely fresh herbs and spices. The kits can be frozen and perform perfectly direct from the freezer.

“We tried a few of them and they were all very bland. We didn't end up using the last one as they had been so disappointing. A great idea but the flavour just wasn't there sadly.”

Hi Andrew, All of our kits contain fresh ingredients, so naturally have a limited shelf life. Most of our customers freeze the kits upon receipt to ensure that the life of the kits is maximised, and can be safely consumed after the best before date. Thanks, Kru

“My parcel of 6 arrived but it was 3 days before I opened it. At which point I saw the "Must refrigerate" sticker. I suffer with a gastric auto immune condition so didn't then want to risk eating them so the whole lot, sadly, had to be binned.”
