“The instructions are easy to follow. We have tried two so far. The Goan fish/prawn curry was outstanding, excellent flavours. The Rogan Josh was slightly more complicated to make, but was also good, but not as good as the Goan curry. Jerk chicken next, have already bought another 6 for my son to try”

“We ordered six kits - tikka masala, Balti and makhani. They were all lovely but especially liked the Balti although Makhani was a favourite of my teenage daughter. Much better than the shop bought jars and very simple to make. Have just reordered another six as Saturday night is now Tastesmiths night!”

“Brought the £20 package and was well delighted on how quickly they where delivered, tried the Madras one it came out ok , a few mistakes by myself but still came out ok , then tried the onion Barge one that was a total disaster followed the recipe but wow think I will stay with the curry kits lol , but as for the kits they are very good and well worth the idea of getting them and trying them out , I will be a second/ third / fourth and more time buyer , with fresh ingredients and a fool proof ( he says ) after getting it wrong lol it’s a great buy and a great taste to boot”

“Happy with my purchase however every recipe has ginger in and no one in the house likes ginger wonder if there is something else w can add instead of ginger products come nicely packaged and good clear instructions”

“got my choice of 6 packs , made the Korma Masala last night , in my honest opinion only i would say for it feeding 2-3 people there was far too much Ginger & Garlic in the recipe but other than that my wife & son loved my cooking ;-)”

“My first purchase of six to try out the packs. They contain lots of hard to find -,in a rural area - fresh ingredients and interesting spice mixtures. They are a bit heavy on the chillis so recommend starting with mild option and working up. They are not a quick throw everything in the pot solution to a quick meal but provide the basis for experimentation with flavours and a variety of meats and vegetables.”

“The two curries I had were delicious. It is definitely not a 'quick' meal as it takes a lot of preparation. The biggest issue I have is that all the packs have the same sell by date which was just over 3 weeks from receiving them. you say that they can be frozen but to be honest freezing fresh garlic, ginger and chillies will I think affect the taste, and for that reason alone I would not recommend them.”

Hi Anna, thanks for the review. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed cooking with us. However it is 100% fine to freeze our kits and it will not effect the taste what so ever as long as you don't defrost before cooking, hope this helps.

“I received my first order from Tastesmiths recently and have been very impressed so far. Before i ordered I used the instant chat facility on the website and had quick, thought through, friendly responses. The website warned that deliveries were taking a little while at the moment due to heavy demand and short staffing due to Covid safe measures. Once ordered I was kept informed of the delivery status with regular emails so was never left wondering what was going on. So far my experience as a customer with your company has been very positive.”

“Our set of 6 curries were well packaged and presented, with good clear instructions. We have only had the Tila Masala so far, but it was delicious with added chicken. Looking forward to the rest!”

“I've tried 3 of the 5 curries so far. The Rogan Josh and Persian curries were excellent. The Tikka Masala was very good though I preferred (slightly) the Spice Tailor's one. they were all easy to prepare but gave one the feeling of making the curry one self.”

“Tried 2 out of 5 I bought wasn't impressed with the tikka masala one. Both me and my wife said we wouldn't order another one. Gave the madras to my daughter who does a lot of cooking. She Made it to the book.. Was very tasty but dry... No sauce at all Was a lockdown moment of madness ordering. Don't think we will be placing another order”

“I bought a pack of 8 mixed curries and so far have tried only two. The first, a Timatar Masala, was delightful but I have to say that the Balti, which I tried next, was sadly lacking something. Not sure what was missing but afraid it wasn't quite up to the authentic Balti taste of someone weaned in the Balti Triangle of Birmingham.”

“I'm enjoying the product. The curries are especially good; I improvised by adding cashew nuts to the chicken tikka massala - excellent! My jerk chicken was disappointing; I don't have a mixer so I had to grate everything which wasn't the same. If I had to do it again, I'd buy chicken drumsticks and half cook them in the oven before applying marinade. Looking forward to trying out other meals. Tim”

“Purchased the special offer of 8 kits and so far have tried 2 curries and one rice. The Goan curry, cooked with king prawns is absolutely excellent - as good as you'd get in a restaurant. The fresh coconut is the secret ingredient. I found the rice a little overcooked when prepared following the instructions; next time I think I'll use a little less water. The Rogan ended up a little runny, so I think I might have added too much water. What I do like is the correctly measured amount of spice that makes for a good balance of flavour. Will definately buy again in the future once the current stock has been used”
