“Beautiful place to stay, host was very lovely, attentive and helpful and even left us a cake for our arrival! The location was amazing and perfect for travelling to all of the local attractions. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back in the future!”
“We really enjoyed our stay at Fuidaigh in South Uist. The house was in a great location and had everything that we needed. The owner Neil Paul was very helpful and popped round to check that all was well shortly after we arrived. He also left a nice welcome pack which included homemade pancakes, they were delicious! Taing mhòr Neil Paul, tha mi 'n dòchas gum bi cothrom againn fuireach ann am Fuidaigh uair eile.”
“Quirky accomodation in a stunning area
Excellent pub in village, (booking essential!) Ideal base to explore the wider area.
Minus points, bed very hard, drain smell in bathroom and some rooms were cold.”
“The cottage has both the exceptional qualities of being both welcoming and accommodating coupled with detailed style and great taste .
We especially enjoyed the garden and the adjoining garden room , where we have spent some glorious hours in the late summer sunshine.
The little touches , such as the bottles of wine and artisan bread .
It has been a terrific venue for our holiday and would not hesitate to endorse the cottage to others ,
We will return .”
“The property is OK, at best, for what we needed, but definitely needs a revamp. The box room with a single bed is very cold due to having an old window. My 30yr old son had to sleep in the single bed in the master bedroom with myself and my husband because of this.
The front double bedroom smelled a bit like cigarettes as well. Unsure where that came from as the rest of the house smelled fine, and none of us are smokers.
The bathroom needs a complete makeover. The bath has stains in it and is obviously old. The side of the bath is just a piece of wood that has been screwed onto the bath, and is still loose. The taps for the shower are mixer taps and weren't easy to get the water at the right temperature. The overhead clip for the shower wasn't very sturdy. The shower panel doesn't move at all to allow you to turn on the water before you get into the bath, so you have to get cold water over you first as you attempt to sort out the temperature. The shower curtain has been secured to the wall completely with a screw, meaning you can't pull it across.
The ceiling has been poorly finished as there's white paint marks all over the light fixture, and the cabinet has also been very poorly painted in a white gloss that you can see through.
The towels that were left are very old and faded - new white towels are definitely needed in a property like this.
The kitchen is very small, and though there are plenty of utensils for you to use, the hob is unsafe as the plug for it is missing a pin, and we were left very small matches to light the gas hob - DANGEROUS!! The back door is difficult to open and the handle is falling off!
The central heating never once came on during our stay. We contacted the owner, only for them to say that it's controlled by hive heating and that we shouldn't need to do anything to it. After we changed the battery as the hive wasn't working, it still didn't work. The owner said they'd have to get someone out to check it, but that it worked fine when the cleaner was in, and that we should find a YouTube video to reset the device. So nothing was done for us during our stay, and we had to depend on the electric heater in the rear living room for warmth during our whole stay. The carbon monoxide detector for the hallway was only a little detection patch on the side of the electric heater.
The garden is very overgrown and in need of trimming back. The grass was long and needed cutting. The garden furniture was just a rickety table and plastic chairs which were unusable.
The drive at the front desperately needs to be weeded and hedges trimmed back.
The key isn't left for you in a lockbox - it is left in a little fabric bag in the hanging basket by the front door - which to us was really dangerous. It may be a quiet area, but a lockbox isn't much to expect. The front door and the glass surrounding it is also quite rickety, and seemed very weak and old. May be a good idea to update that for safety purposes.
For the price we paid, we expected better as we've paid similar prices elsewhere amd had much better experiences. Though the house is well situated, it desperately needs a revamp asap!”
“Very nice corner cottage, Jake our dog loved it, particularly the large field.
Brilliant pub for food and drink
The icing on the cake was the village store and cafe”
“Easy to book on the website, have been using Sykes for many years now and have never been anything other than delighted with the properties we've stayed in.”
“We had a lovely stay at Cobblers Cottage.
Great communication and the cottage was clean and tidy, and had all the appliances needed.
The cottage was right in the centre of town, close to all the shops, bars/pubs and restaurants.
Upton upon Severn is also a great location to visit the local areas other towns and villages”
“Really welcoming house with every need you could have already covered - including a Welcome pack of basics.
The house itself makes you feel so at home and hosts Barry & Glenda just reinforce that comfy feeling.
This is our second stay and will not be our last xxxxx”
“the cottage we stayed in, situated in Porlock, Somerset was lovely and clean. The only downside was the parking , as the cottage was situated right on a narrow road with no off road parking.”
“We've been booking with Sykes for 10+ years. They deliver quality property listings, ease of booking and most importantly, no surprises. Consistency is the key. We visit the UK twice a year and Sykes is our go to for the cottage we want every time.”
