“We were extremely disappointed with our stay. We specifically booked this lodge because it advertised an on-site swimming pool, and we planned to use it daily during our six-night stay.
Upon arrival, we were informed that the boiler had broken but had supposedly been fixed, and that it would take one day to return to the correct temperature. However, each time we enquired throughout our stay, we were told there was still an issue and to try again the following day.
Unfortunately, it felt as though we were being fobbed off. When we raised our disappointment upon departure, we were then told that the boiler actually needed to be completely rebuilt and that they believed we had been aware of this — which was absolutely not the case.
The swimming pool was one of the main reasons we chose this particular lodge and justified the significant cost of our booking. Given that this key facility was unavailable for the entirety of our stay, we believe a partial refund would be appropriate.”
“Very warm, fairly well equipped but no freezer or dishwasher. One or two bulbs weren’t working and no signal on tv in bedroom. Very foggy when I stayed but countryside probably very scenic”
“The cottage is in a wonderful location & we love it there.This was our third stay.
However it didn't feel quite as well equipped or welcoming as before& it was rather cool.Without the coal fire we would have been very cold.I resorted to buying a water bottle.
A measuring jug,&some smaller casserole dishes,also the shed door is sticking & without the use of my dog lead I don't think that we would have been able to open it to get the keys.We had to use the lead each time we opened it for coal.Also the vacuum cleaner hardly picks up.”
“We have stayed at white Lea in Grinton twice before and it’s a lovely cottage .
It’s spotless and very well equipped.
Having stayed in a few in that area it’s our favourite.”
“I have booked with Sykes several times and would normally give a 5star review. However, just a little disappointed that when u sent me a £40 voucher I was unable to apply it to the booking. My bloom discount being my only option.”
“There is lots of choice for places to stay in different areas. Plenty that will take dogs. They do special offers and cottages are priced to suit every budget.”

“Sykes cottages needs to monitor their listing's and make sure that they are accurate and current. The cottage I booked in north Wales was not as described, it was very poorly cleaned, heating not working and very dated. Pillows were like pancakes, bedding and towels very old. The hot water was extremely hot and no option to adjust. The owner did not have any warnings about how to use many items in the property. Limited information on how to contact them. No information on how or where to dispose of rubbish. Overall a very disappointing stay in very cold weather.”
“You send out bloom offers but fail to honour them? When you send texts and emails these are ignored also . There is also NO phone number on main web site to contact site they want you to use social media which we do not use! This is totally unacceptable.”
“Wonderful accommodation, spectacular views & in a good location, we had just what we chose it for, A lovely holiday, a good rest. Recharged the batteries. The house had everything we needed especially a lovely comfortable bed. (The Best).

“We have enjoyed Sykes cottages ever since you first set out and in recent years we have been particularly impressed by the modern attitudes and facilities offered by your hosts.
Our most recent stay was at The Cider Mill in Westhope Herefordshire. Our hosts were wonderful, even made me a birthday cake - even though they had never met me.
The acommodation was very comfortable and in an ideal place for visiting all the places we had on our wish list.

“We loved Enzie Station cottage. The cottage is centrally located, very well equipped and cosy. The beds are comfortable, plenty of hot water in the lovely shower room and a super luxurious free standing bath upstairs. We were provided with lots of wood for the fab wood burner and as the weather was bad it was replenished by the owner every day. We had a great holiday despite the bad weather because our accommodation was so good. Thank you, we will be back.”
