About Rogerson Shoes:

Who we are and how is it that we came to be so passionate about shoes?

Like many classics our story revolves around one or two ambitious pioneers, a love affair, war, a family drama, conflict and its resolution. What laces this story together is a connection with the land, and a need to provide for the people of it.

Let’s set the scene of how our business was born. It’s 1905 and Thomas Rogerson sits concentrating over his tools in a shed at the end of a bridge in Rothbury. Motivated by the desire to win the hand of Isabelle, he needs to learn a trade. And so it was that he learnt to repair shepherd’s boots.

Skip forward over 100 years from this humble beginning, and here we are; from robust, carefully crafted tackety boots designed to tackle the heather hilltops, to on-trend trainers in a spectrum of colours, designed to tackle the concrete jungle! Originally sold under canvas at agricultural shows, by mail order or taken directly to farms. Now, displayed using bright light boxes in our high street stores, or sold via easy on-line orders that will arrive at your door.

What’s new?

Our mission now is to stock a vibrant and compelling choice of shoes, boots, sandals, slippers and bags. Made using traditional and progressive manufacturing techniques and a wide range of materials from Gore-Tex to vegetable tanned leathers, our selection is diverse. Ranging from fun, quirky, edgy and joyful designs, to sophisticated classics, to practical waterproof adventure shoes and boots for enjoying the hills.

Different from other footwear retailers in terms of the breadth of our range, we stock many styles that are unique to our business, including colour combinations, prints and lasts. Prioritising pricing, quality and comfort we work on the principle that well-made shoes wear better, are more of a pleasure to wear, and ultimately, are less wasteful.

Passionate people

The Rogerson’s ethos is one of positivity, and we aim to employ happy people who enjoy their work and convey this in their attitude to others. With weekly training on everything from leather, construction techniques and technical features, our staff aim to facilitate a friendly and efficient shopping experience and will go out of their way to bring you all the shoes you fancy trying on! Alternatively, one of our 120 strong team of keen beans will carefully parcel them up for your online orders. We dispatch from both our central warehouse in the pretty town of Peebles, and from our 13 busy stores across Scotland.

I was rather disappointed when I opened the boots you sent me. They seemed as though they were not brand new - this may be due to them being tried on quite a lot in one of your shops. Despite this I decided to keep them as my feet are an awkward shape and I find it hard to find shoes/boots suitable for me. Thank you. Karen

I am so sorry your parcel has not reached you. You ordered on 2nd January and we quickly dispatched the order and handed it to Royal Mail on 4th January. As per email to you on Friday 13th January 2023 it came to our attention on Thursday 12th January that Royal Mail had suffered a Cyber Incident which was to affect all their international deliveries. This has been reported in the news and on their website. If you would like further information about it, this can be found on the Royal Mail website under the Business tab and then searching for “Service update”. As they mention in their update, they are unable to despatch items to overseas destinations and any items already despatched may be subject to delays. As your parcel had already been handed over to them, we are unable to intervene. I know you will be very disappointed, and we are equally disappointed and frustrated. News today is the Royal Mail are working on a solution, so we hope they will implement this soon and your parcel will be delivered. Sorry again for any disappointment. The shoes had a fault on the heel . There was bubbling of the rubber on the heel .I therefore was disappointed .

Went in to Rogersons shoes in Inverness. Found a £100 pair of shoes I liked and they fitted well. Unfortunatley there was a defect on one of shoes which was not the shop's fault. Assistant advised she could order me a pair and they would be delivered to my door in a few days. Fine, I thought. Then was advised I would have to pay for the delivery. Sorry, not my fault shoes were faulty and you did not have another pair. I now discover I can order them onlime myself without any delivery charges. Something not right that the shop has to charge for delivery!

Lovely shoes - pleasant staff. Used Peebles store often. However for a shoe shop not offer replacement laces to customers for products purchased is beyond me. Such a simple issue and all the good work on displays /service etc are lost in an instant. Its clearly a senior management decision - make the profit on product and after sales is non-existent.

Hello, thanks for your review. Unfortunately, not all brands are able to supply spare laces. We stock hundreds of lacing styles from multiple suppliers, and when needed, often customers are able to find similar laces to match online, where there is a wide range of possibilities available. Occasionally we are able to contact the supplier on a customer's behalf for specific laces. I will contact directly to see if this is possible in this case. Regards Lorna

Hello Colin, I'm really sorry that your parcel is still in transit, making it almost 2 weeks overdue. It's very unusual for DPD to mislay a parcel. As you know, Lorna has been in contact with DPD following this up for you. The good news is the parcel search has now come back with the item being found in the Highlands Depot on Saturday, which means your parcel will be with you in the next few days after the Monday holiday. I'm a USA CUSTOMER, SHOES WERE TOO BIG. I ENDED UP GIVING THEM AWAY, DUE TO THE COMPANY NOT OFFERING RETURN LABLELS TO US

Hello Carietta, Thank you for your review. What a shame that the lovely red Fly boots were not the correct size for you. Should you have any questions regarding size or fit, please let us know before ordering and we will do our best to help; we often try products on for customers so we can give accurate feedback. Regarding returns, it sounds like you had not appreciated that we heavily subsidise the transport costs for all parcels, even more so if the parcel is out with the UK. Customers out with the UK can of course return their order for a full refund, but this is not something we are able to organise nor able to pay for. The info on returning parcels is noted on our website under “Returns”. Here it states “non-UK customers returning orders can do so at their own cost”, along with details of where to send the return to. Thank you for pointing out via your Review, that returns out with the UK are not free. Occasionally customers from the USA have not appreciated the real cost involved as we have subsidised the outward shipping to a high degree. Our aim would be to help you select the correct product and size so you don’t need to return it. St Andrew's shop. Prices in window on certain shoes. No prices on certain shoes inside. Don't always want to ask for shoes and prices. I feel prices should be displayed. Really nice shoes, couldn't be bothered with hassle.

Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback. We are really sorry that you had this frustrating experience. Sarah spoke with the St Andrews Store on Monday. Our Area Manager, Carrie, who was in the store on Monday, was really concerned to hear about your frustration with missing prices. We 100% agree that is really annoying when you are shopping if a price is missing; all the shoes we have on display should be priced. We checked all the shoes on display in the St Andrews store so that we could asses the extent of the problem. We found out of 1179 shoes on display, 52 had missing price stickers. The shoes that were not priced tended to be lined with sheepskin or fabric, and we think that the labels have come off due to not bonding so well to these materials. We always find that it is a fine balance between using labels which are sticky enough to stay put while on display and labels that can be easily removed without damaging the shoe when the item later belongs to a customer. We do find that on the boots in particular the stickers can come off when the display item is tried on. Your feedback was really helpful as it’s made the store teams determined to get better at picking up on missing stickers. Each store will check every shoe on display on a Monday morning to ensure that no items have lost their stickers during the previous week. In your message you mentioned that you were not keen to ask for shoes and prices. We completely understand this, as having to ask, would slow down your shopping experience. We will do our best to make sure all shoes are priced by doing a weekly check. Please note, if you do ever find a shoe without a price, it is absolutely no problem for one of the team to get the price for you. Our team are there to help and the joy of the job comes from interacting with customers and helping them find the ideal shoe. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
