Excellent experience, felt useful, appreciated and learned so much from the project lead, Peter Jacobs. The meet and greet was well organised but would suggest travelling to Sodwana via Durban, it is nearer, the bus journey from Jo'burg is very long! Although there is no predictability of frequency of turtle sightings one can contribute so much to beach cleaning, talking to the local community and promoting the conservation. I experienced the nesting phase, sadly had to leave before the hatchlings appeared but I hope to return. Most turtle sightings and activites are in the evenings, tide related which leaves plenty of time to explore and engage with an amazing assortment of activities; snorkelling, beach combing, deep sea fishing and even a microlight experience, to give an overview literally of the area and animals. Nearby are safaris parks and a wealth of animals to observe in the wild; all can be arranged through the placement, yes this incurs additional costs but not expensive and truly worth every penny. More information / communication between project and placement and volunteer would have been useful re travel but did not detract from an amazing experience facilitated by the kindness and organisation of the hosts.

Loved every second of my time away and would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Football "coaching" is misleading, there is no coaching involved it is simply playing 7's for 2hours with Brazilian teenagers 5days a week. Try and learn as much Portuguese as possible as only one coach speaks basic English and very few of the players speak English. Being nutmegged is inevitable, you just have to deal with it and enjoy watching the game played the Brazilian way.

The experience was incredible and I made so many friends and made some amazing memories. One week was not enough and I wish I had stayed longer. I would recommend booking flights independently as I unfortunately had to miss the last night of the trip due to my flight being booked so early in the morning. I would also recommend arriving a day early for the trip and leaving a day late as it would allow you to acclimatize to the temperature and also the time zone. I would recommend anybody to go on the trip and work with these incredible elephants.

Loved the tour, Kent was such a cool dude and really knew his stuff when it came to the country and the people and stuff. I loved the tours of the rice paddies and the coffee plantation, that sort of thing is right up my street. My only criticism is that some of the restaurant choices were not fantastic, but apart from that the rest of the tour was fantastic.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review Josh and we're pleased to hear you had a great time on the trip (we love Kent too!). Thanks for the feedback on the restaurant choices, we shall ensure we pass this onto the in-country team to look into. Hope to have you travel with us again in the future :)

The highlight of the trip for me was definitely the voluntary work, this week we had the opportunity to get stuck into working with the family and have a full day of keeping busy.

The best highlights for me would be the life long friends you make along your journey and travelling the east coast in a camper van! Its one amazing way to plan your own schedual and incorporate the things that interest you most! Surf camp australia, Fraser island, and the whitsundays are definitely a must on your adventure to oz!

Visiting the islands, in particular Koh Samui which was lovely. Also the day trip to Ang Thong Marine Park that included kayaking and snorkeling which happened to be scheduled on my birthday and made for a memorable day. The additional trip to Koh Tao which we were able to do was great and being able to spend time at Nang Yuan Island was incredible

The main highlights for me was meeting all the different people, this ranged from fellow volunteers, people who worked within the organisation, the locals and even other travellers. Along with this I enjoyed finding out about their culture and the way that they live and survive compared to in the UK.

Go to India with an open mind. Don't be afraid to travel alone. Pack as little as possible.

Washing the elephants in the river and getting to see so many of the tourist sights in such a short time! Completely different experience which has inspired future conservation work!

Working with the elephants was a definite highlights. I also enjoyed the day trips and the freedom at the weekends to travel and see other areas of Sri Lanka.

Seeing fantastic sights such as the Taj Mahal were truly amazing and the boat trip down the River Ganges was spectacular- finished with cricket on the beach during the sunset! Nepal was also beautiful, a highlight being the walk through the Chitwan National Park and seeing elephants and rhinos in the wild. The guides were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Also, DEFINITELY do the morning flight over Everest- once in a lifetime opportunity not to be missed!
