Felt very disappointed when Mark Durnall disqualified my last dentist work and tried to replace many of my fillings for no reason

I am in shock and tears after the experience I have just had on the telephone to this practice. The woman I spoke to was very abrupt and showed me absolutely no empathy or understanding whatsoever. In fact she appeared defensive and going out of her way to be obnoxious to me. I explained that I had a nasty virus in 2014 which left me with debilitating post viral symptoms for years & a lifelong illness/lifelong medication. I was previously healthy. It took 5 years before I started to feel anywhere near normal again. I expect anyone with any empathy at all might understand that I really want to avoid covid. Surely most people by now (especially in the medical field) understand that vaccines don't prevent long covid. I told her that as a result of my experience I had several questions regarding what measures the practice has in place to protect people from Covid. I then asked if it was a convenient time or should I call back another time. I was nothing but polite. She told me I could speak now. She opened the subject of protective measures with "none of our customers or staff have to wear masks anymore". I asked "including in the surgery?" to which she replied "oh no we wear them in there". A kind person would have surely opened with "don't worry, everyone masks in the surgery". I would happily wait outside. I know people have different attitudes towards covid. I don't ask people to mask in a waiting room. But OBVIOUSLY I care about what I'm at risk of in a surgery. I'd be mad to put myself at risk again of another Lord knows how many years being ill and stuck indoors again. I asked her about hepa filters and it turns out yes they have those but she only volunteered the information regarding which protective measures are now no more and in a defensive manner. It has taken me months to psych myself up to make dental enquiries. I've avoided Covid by being uber cautious. Even my doctor said I may be susceptible to long covid in light of my previous experience. Yes I am scared of going through that again and whilst I take responsibility for my own protection, obviously I'm vulnerable whilst maskless in a dentist's chair! This was my 1st call! I wasn't after any sympathy, I just wanted to know what the covid procedure was and I had hoped my reasons for enquiring would be met with some understanding! I've worked in high communication roles for years. There are ways you talk to people. I am especially disgusted that this was a person working within the medical field. When she told me staff don't test for covid I simply said "OK thank you, I will leave it". She replied "that's absolutely fine" in the most defensive and sarcastic manner. It implied "we wouldn't want you here anyway". I didn't at any point show any judgement re the lack of precautions. I didn't lose my temper despite the fact I feel so disgusted by her attitude. I'm postponing the calls again. I'm too upset now. I just hope I encounter another surgery with some empathetic staff or I may have to compile an email because I feel scared to ask! Yes we are all aware it is the "law" now that you don't have to take care of others but some people just choose to anyway. Covid is NOT over and even if the initial infection is mild you can end up with long covid.
