“POD makes me happy because I have confidence in them. The programs they represent are have been thoroughly vetted and volunteers can be confident they are going to a reputable program. Given PODS application process I am confident that my fellow volunteers have been thoroughly screened. I have confidence that all those involved with my volunteer stay, from drivers to guides to guest house hosts are professional. And I have confidence that were I to experience any difficulty POD has backup support within the community to come to my aid. All this gives me confidence in POD and makes me excited to volunteer through them.”

“I had a entirely positive experience volunteering with POD from start to finish. They were efficient and organised and always happy to help with any query no matter how big or small. I would definitely travel with POD again. Keep up the good work!”

“POD volunteer gave me good information on my volunteering holiday from the start. After looking at the website I phoned up the team who were helpful and friendly, sharing first-hand experiences of the particular reef conservation holiday I was after. The written information contained all I needed. All this and it was a fair bit cheaper going through POD volunteer than through another site advertising the same experience as well!”

“Pod supports at least one organization that claims to be dedicated to the welfare of animals, but in truth, still uses outdated and abusive techniques for handling their animals, thus going against their mission of ethical volunteering. In addition, Pod did a poor job of maintaining recent information on their websites, which gave volunteers misinformation as to the nature of their volunteering projects.”

Thank you for your review. We are extremely surprised and concerned by your comments. We support a carefully selected and vetted set of projects and visit them all regularly to monitor them. Animal welfare is extremely important to us and we are confident there are no abusive techniques used at any of the projects we work with, so it would be appreciated if you could give us more specific details about what you are referring to so that we can confirm / investigate this. One of the reasons we visit our projects regularly and have a close relationship with our partners is to ensure that we are giving accurate information to volunteers on the website and in our volunteering guides. We do however appreciate that things are constantly evolving, so we ask for feedback from volunteers before, during and after the placement, so if there is any information that is not up to date we can make updates and changes when needed. “We volunteered with the Caribbean Conservation programme in Belize, it was a great experience and a real insight into the work of TIDE and how they are making a difference to the environment and spreading the word into the local community.”

“Hello everyone! I am currently volunteering with the Pod Community Education project. I have been here since November and I leave in April. This project really has been and still is a really humbling and enlightening experience; immersing oneself in another culture is fantastic. It is so rewarding watching kids in poverty progress through education and the connections you make with the kids are most definitely the highlight for me. This project is a great way to improve your Spanish, I arrived with minimal Spanish oral and written skills in November and I have improved dramatically since then. The Peruvian Volunteers are great, as is Yuri, the Director. I do recommend if possible coming for 2 months or more because the bond you make with the children increases the longer you stay. I came as a Volunteer and I am now Temporarily the International Coordinator so you never know what may happen!”

“Pod Volunteer was extremely organized, and provided me with all the guidance I needed for my volunteering. There is a large variety of projects that you can join, and based on my own experience and that of other volunteers all of them very interesting. Pod works with local organizations that understand very well the environment, the culture and the needs of the communities where you will be working. This is a real advantage, which enables you to very quickly feel integrated within the project and the new environment. Pod made me happy because of the peace of mind of knowing that I could rely on the organization if I needed but at the same time I had the freedom I was looking for.”
