Dear Customer Service Team, I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the recent delivery and collection process of my parcel, which I ordered from your store and was delivered via DPD. I received a notification stating that my parcel was not delivered to my address as I was not home, and instead it was redirected to a DPD pickup point. On Saturday, I travelled approximately 40 minutes from my home to collect a heavy parcel from this location. Upon arrival, I presented the QR code from the DPD notification as instructed. However, I was denied the parcel and was told I needed to provide photo ID. Nowhere in the communication I received was this requirement mentioned. Fortunately, I remembered that I could access my Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) digitally, which I retrieved from the official UK Government website. The BRP is a legally recognized identity document for residents in the UK and, since 2022, physical BRP cards have begun to be phased out in favor of digital status confirmation, accessible via the ‘View and prove your immigration status’ service. Despite this, the staff at the pickup point rejected it, claiming “this is not a document.” I was only able to collect my parcel after insisting to speak with a manager. Once I confirmed my address and showed the QR code again, I was told an exception would be made—but I was still told my BRP “does not count as ID,” which is incorrect and misleading. According to the UK Government, the BRP is an official immigration document and is legally valid for identity verification purposes. Reference: UK Home Office. I am extremely disappointed by the inconvenience, the lack of clear instructions, and the incorrect refusal of an official UK identity document.

Please be aware that this negative review has no impact on DPD (who is to blame). It only damages the rating of HBS Natural Choice and our reputation. We do our best to provide a first class delivery service by having regular meetings with DPD, discussing complaints, on going issues, but the sad truth is we have little control over DPD's actions. Basically, DPD are the best of a bad bunch of couriers. The Hazelnuts were old and quite tasteless, also quite a few were rotten inside.

Hi Frederick, We are sorry to hear of the disappointment in the sample shelled Hazelnuts we supplied. This is most unusual, we are mystified to why this particular sample was so bad, given the fact this is current crop, we process literally hundreds of tons of hazelnuts, and rarely have any issues with the finished product. The colour & consistence of the product were offputing. The taste was bitter but the advert did warne not to use as spread. Worse of all, the item was produced in the US. This info should have been expressed in the advert. I disposed of it.

Hi Dom, We are sorry to hear of your disappointment in the walnut paste supplied. Walnut paste is unlike any other nut butter, the process of turning walnuts into paste intensifies the walnut smell, flavor, and bitterness which makes it a perfect flavouring ingredient in breads, bakery, and salad dressing. As you rightfully pointed out, all this information is listed in our product description, we also advise not to use this product as a spread on its own - it's too intense on it's own. As for the walnut being produced in the US, that is not correct. The walnuts are of US origin (Californian), the actual product is produced in the UK at our processing factory in Dudley West Midlands. Not happy that my order of pecan "halves" and walnut "halves" contained a considerale amount of broken bits and crumbs. If I'd wanted bits and crumbs I would have ordered them instead.

Hi Charles, We are sorry to hear you found so many broken halves within the nuts supplied, they certainly wouldn't have left us in that condition, and does not reflect reviews left by other customers who have purchased the same products. This sounds like damage caused by crushing during mail sorting, or possibly an inconsiderate postie who has been heavy handed with your delivery. Delivery charges are too much for Scotland. Tried to order 2.5 kilos of products yesterday and postage to my address was £7.19 plus tax. I live in mainland Scotland

Hi Trish, Thank you for your review, however, its extremely disappointing and unjustified considering you have ordered twice before and that carriage is calculated before asking for any payment. We as a company have to pay for delivery (if is not a free service), If you are not happy with the delivery charge, please do not complete your order. Please note, we send all orders out on a next working day service because we understand the importance of an efficient and reliable service when delivering food items. If you know of a courier who offers a tracked 24hr service to Scotland for up to 3kg for less than £3.19 - kindly let us know.... as we already subsidise carriage due to fluctuating fuel surcharges. I had bought Macadamia nuts several times from Natural Choice. This time, the nuts were hard and difficult to eat. Around 15% of the nuts are not chewable.
