My intention here is to warn people before they engage this company. If you have a simple blocked drain or drainage issues, then this company might be the one for you. Most of their positive reviews are vague and regarding very simple jobs and provide no insight into the quality of work they produce. Their website is well written and gives a false sense of quality, with accreditations that mean very little when you find yourself in a dispute over their extremely low standard of work and their unwillingness to reach a satisfactory conclusion. I hired LDF on the basis of their impressive website and positive reviews, but my experience is that this is a very effective deception. I had split the work up into two parts. Firstly, we needed to locate a buried stormwater pipe in our front garden to drain rainwater and whose position was lost when a porch was built over the gulley. Secondly, we needed to replace channel drains along the front of our house (whose depth I had specified) and redirect direct that flow of water into the located pipe and away from a flower bed. I expected two quotes as other contractors did, but they provided one, which I interpreted as confidence in finding the pipe. They started works installing new channel drains (which was very poorly done and had to revisit to rectify) and much shallower than I specified, but at this stage I trusted in their competence and wasn’t checking their work. At the same time, they started excavating for the pipe. After not finding the pipe in the place I said it was likely to be, they wanted to backfill the excavation saying it was not their job to locate the pipe. I found that astounding that a drainage company would be prepared to give up and with the new channel drains having no place to dispose the rainwater. A competent drainage company would have not laid the channel drains without a disposal point and yet they had left me in this vulnerable position. As I started checking their work and tested the flow of water, I saw that the water was pooling and not flowing, and the position of the channel drains, just below the air vents at the side of the house was not compliant with building regulations (Approved Document C). This specifies that the minimum height of the air vents should be 75mm above the drains. Also, the way that blackjack paint was applied was in breach of building regulations. Both these would potentially cause rising damp and structural rot. as water would seep into the house even in moderate rainfall and moisture would get trapped in the brickwork. They offered two solutions for an alternate water disposal soakaway both of which I checked and found to be non-compliant which they later agreed. Again, an experienced drainage professional would not have proposed non-compliant solutions. I have lost all confidence in the expertise of the service and advice they provide – especially to residential customers and wanted to warn others from being misled. With AI it has become very cheap to produce a professional looking website and not have the service to back it up. Not taking the time to read the high reviews, I didn’t notice that the vast majority of the reviews were for simple unblocking work. From my terrible experience, I sincerely doubt they have the expertise to meet the real drainage needs, especially for residential customers, as their website claim. The more I communicated with them, the more I came to the horrific realisation that I was wrong to have selected them. Their attitude has been uncaring, inflexible and unprofessional, preferring to defend the incompetence of their own staff than working towards providing a good, honest service for customers. I have paid half of the invoice value of £3600 but am now preparing legal action to recover the loss and costs for remedial work and stress that they have caused to the family, particularly to my elderly mother, knowing that we are vulnerable whenever there is rainfall. My confidence is in the knowledge such dishonest practices showing little integrity and who have no interest in providing a quality solution but rather defending their incompetence will ultimately be rewarded by the market.

Over the weekend, a neighbour's flat was flooded due to a blocked stackpipe in the block of flats, causing the kitchen sink to overflow. Adam Kibala was sent by London Drainage to attend to the problem. Although it was late at night, Adam was professional, thorough and thoughtful in his approach throughout the entire process and spoke to the owners clearly setting out the options. After trying different methods to remove the blockage Adam was forced to cut into a kitchen cabinet in order to get to the stackpipe, which he did with precision and minimal damage to the cabinet. Even at that late hour, he then went the extra mile to fix up a leaking outlet pipe to the sink so that he could satisfy himself that the work he had done to the stackpipe had solved the overflowing sink problem. He then proceeded to neatly patch up the cupboard, in case anyone ever needed to access the stackpipe again. I was grateful for these details which were not rushed but carefully done. He is a credit to London Drainage.
