Good news and bad news. The good news is that the rep was a pleasure to deal with being polite, knowledgeable and professional. The bad news is that the amount I paid increased by over 20%.

Tried to renew on line which came up as not possible. However the person who answered the phone when I rang was very helpful and efficient

Perfectly efficient in that write promptly once per year to provide documentation and renewal instructions. Despite no claim (in fact we have never claimed on this property in 19 years) the premium of course went up again - relentlessly as it always does. There is no reward for no claims or loyalty in this life. As we have never had a claim I cannot comment on whether in need and a significant claim this company would be great or terrible. I have no reason not to trust that they would honour the terms of the insurance. Hence may neutral rating.

Thank you for your feedback. Insurers consider several factors when calculating the renewal price. Indexation, an adverse claims history and the customer making a claim within the last 12 months will usually drive an increase, but there are other, more subjective factors as well. These include insurers’ views on the various risks associated with the insurance they are providing, such as changes in their overall claims experience for a given property type or a review of the severity of natural disasters occurring in a given postcode. Finally, we would like to confirm that renewals are not mandatory and we contact our customers in good time with an offer of price for the coming 12 months. This gives them the opportunity to consider our terms and to shop around if they feel we are not offering value for money. As we previously advised insurers have an agreement where they look to price match subject to cover being on a like for like basis.

Ok but it would have been better if there had been a clear explanation as to the percentage increase in the premium compared to last year (about 25%) and a justification/explanation as to why. (e.g. higher costs, wanting to make more profit etc etc). Doing none of these things gives the impression that you think/hope that customers are either not going to notice, don't care or are idiots - which is not impressive as you are essentially a customer service company

Thank you for your feedback and apologies you feel our renewal documentation is not clear regarding the increased premium. In relation to the renewal premium of your policy, Insurers consider several factors when calculating the renewal price. We would like to confirm that renewals are not mandatory, and we contact our customers in good time with an offer of price for the coming 12 months. This gives them the opportunity to consider our terms and to shop around if they feel we are not offering value for money. Due to the various reasons that the policy premium could increase, we always ask to contact us if you ever have any questions and this is something we would happily discuss with you and provide a full explanation.

Renewal papers came through and I renewed. Quite an increase from the first year but not worth the aggravation of shopping around.

Price had gone up an incredible 19% (including an extra year's no claims bonus). In addition the accompanying letter does not clarify the total cost as it fails to mention the legal protection element. Two different documents with the same wording give different prices. There is no way for the end user to work out why so if you look at the wrong document the wrong cover is bought. Ended up having to make an extra payment. Customer service is excellent, the staff are extremely helpful and no long waits to be answered. Not had to put to the real test as never had to make a claim.

Thank you for your feedback and apologies you feel our renewal documentation is not clear regarding our legal expenses cover. We have reviewed our documents we send due to your feedback you kindly left us. Following our investigation, we found the covering letter of your renewal documents show the total premium in bold font which includes the legal expenses cost. We also refer to the legal expenses being included in the first sentence of the covering letter. In addition to this we send a legal expenses policy schedule within your documentation which details the premium charged for this policy. In light of this we believe the renewal documents sent to our customers are clear and transparent. In relation to the renewal premium of your Holiday Home policy, Insurers consider several factors when calculating the renewal price. Indexation, an adverse claims history and the customer making a claim within the last 12 months will usually drive an increase, but there are other, more subjective factors as well. Renewal premium was up by 13.5% this year despite no claims being made. Contacted by phone to discuss but no movement in price available. Promised to price match if I got better quotes but I feel more could have been done at their end to ensure a competitive quote at the outset

I am generally very positive about your customer service. I’m disappointed this time that on my renewal the insurer had increased the premiums and then when I went through the trouble of sourcing a similar policy at a much lower price they then reduced their premium by nearly £100 or nearly 20%. In these days of transparency in business and consumer relations I’m troubled by a practice that seems to bump up prices and only competes with the market price if the customer complains.

I haven't had a claim on my holiday home, and that is in 20 years, so I would have hoped not to have had a price rise of 16% this year i.e. paying for other people's claims.

The premium increased by 12 % over 2018-19. There was no explanation. I could not be bothered to search for anything cheaper, but I will next year if the same thing happens.

I thought the 16% increase from last year to this was excessive. After mentioning this to one of your representatives we were given a very small discount. We will probably look for an alternative insurer at next renewal.

I have used i4me insurance for a few years. It is the best price I can find for holiday home insurance. Although it does go up every year. I have never claimed or tried to claim so no idea how good the policy would be. But staff are always very nice on the phone. Hopefully I will never need to use the insurance policy.

Renewal was straightforward and reasonably priced. Have not has to claim so can't score higher as that is when the quality of any insurance provider is tested.

All transactions were easy and friendly when I signed up. But I’d like to know why my premium has gone up by £52.94 in the first year.

Disappointed to see the premium increased with no explanation or justification. I suppose I will have to search for a better deal every year (as I do for the car and home insurance).
