“I thought the course was well structured. Some things can be overlooked by people but I thought that module 5 was a good reminder of how the health and safety of people can be affected, not only by the obvious (confined spaces, manual handling and noise which need to be closely monitored in our laboratories) but other parts such as the bullying, house keeping, slips,.... The video showing hazards was clearly showing a lot of issues, which I can only believe was done on purpose for this course, though it did make me look around our work environment and realise that some of these hazards were present here and people most likely did not notice them anymore. It did make me clear up my desk and question a few other things around. That's why I decided to do an RA on the office rather than the labs where I work as this is the area where people are most likely more complacent and assume everything is safe when actually it is not. Just the simple fact that we share food cooling and warming equipment can be a big issue for people who have high allergy. Again in the laboratory we have in place very strict rules regarding equipment that gets hot to avoid burns while in the office we probably overlook a simple kettle.”

Thank you, Claire. That's so true! Often the perceived 'lesser' risks are overlooked, especially when there’s an obvious 'significant' risk is the workplace, which is strictly controlled.
