The only delay was on the basis that we had arrived at the Gatwick South terminal and the hire car company Easirent's offices were in off airport in a hotel outside the North terminal which I did not find clear in the booking process. This should be made clearer as should the method of getting between the terminals with the appropriate bus number (G1 or G3). We were given an upgrade which was good and the handover and collection processes were very good.

We have been very pleased with the Car, although we were advised to upgrade due to luggage, and that cost an extra $220. ($11 pere day not $11 total as I thought!) We had an incident near Bryce Canyon when the dash board read that the car needed an oil change. This did use up a lot of our vacation time, but Alamo at Seattle agreed to re-imburse us for the cost of the Oil Change, extra petrol used and a day wasted ($100 rebate from our one way charge for the latter). On our way into Seattle on a very busy 3-way dual carriageway, we had to break quite quickly to avoid a queue ahead. Unfortunately a vehicle 2 back did not do so, so crashed into the car in front of him and shunted him into ours. The police were called and dealt with the issue in about 50 minutes. Alamao accepted the copy of the Police Report without any questions. I was quite impressed! All in all, a very good experience - we shall use you again next time we travel abroad. Tony Sparham

There was a certain amount of confusion over the fact that although British we are resident in France: you apparently have different rules and tariffs (and cars) for "foreigners". Not your responsibility, but the Hertz England call centre was a disgrace - nobody available even to pick up a phone in the middle of a working day! Hertz Scotland was much better.

The site was easy to use and the rental was value for money. However Alamo at Heathrow was a bit of a nightmare in terms of waiting especially after an overnight flight, they also gave me the hard sell to upgrade and buy a lot of insurance which I turned down. My car broke down with just 504 miles on the clock and had to be towed. Stuff happens but I lost a day trying to get a replacement and in the end had to travel 60 miles to pick up myself. I tried to get some compensation when I returned the car but no one was available to approve!

Service was very good. After booking a Ford Focus I was "upgraded" to a Nissan Juke (Joke). Not a bad little car if you're eighteen and own a surfboard but if you have more than one suitcase and some hand luggage then there is not enough space. Leave the SUV's to the kids and rent out a proper car or estate.... Thanks

Very easy to book. Was never able to get response when I e-mailed them to tell them there was a problem with their internet site that caused to accidentally book 3 cars when we wanted only one. We were able to cancel the unwanted cars on our own.
