“I was pleased with the online ordering system. The predators arrived quickly, well packaged, with good information. I would have liked clearer labelling on which pests they were effective against. The actual pests varied in effectiveness. We used the slug nematodes which seemed effective but then it has been hot and dry so slugs are less active. The indoor white fly predators worked very well on one set of fuschias but much less well on another set. We had 2 greenhouses both badly effected with greenfly. One greenhouse is now clear but the second one we eventually gave up and cleared all the plants, cleaned and cleared and then replanted after a week or two.”

“Ordered lacewing larvae to eat the woolly aphid that was covering my eryngiums, the plants now look healthy so it's worked. I've used ladybirds in the past for greenfly and that also works. It's so good not to have to use pesticides.”

“I bought a container of Pyrethrum recently and could find no mention of mixture volumes. I may be wrong of course but I could not find it. I put a question on your on-line system but have had no response at all. I have waited 2 or 3 weeks.”

Thanks for the message and the dilution instructions are normally on the inside of sticker i.e. you have to peel it back. I am not sure what the online system is but I haven't seen an enquiry like this , but if you email me at jon@greengardener.co.uk I will email you back the instructions from a bottle I have here. “Half of my order (spray, copperbands) never arrived - sent an email to request an update without a reply. Also dislike the fact that upon ordering we are not sent a confirmation of items ordered and of expected delivery times. very poor”

“I would have liked clearer instructions. The ladybird larvae were so tiny I really couldn't distribute them properly. It was only too late I thought of using a paintbrush. You might think of suggesting that. Similarly, with the nematodes, I was not sure if the aim was just to deliver them into the ground or water them in around existing plants.”

“I got the lacewing lavae for aphid control because it says in the brochure that they are for use in both greenhouses & in the garden. But to be honest i was pretty disappointed - they arent really suitable for use in the garden - the instructions tell you to cut up the cardboard waffle they come living on, & put the pieces onto the plants... but this is almost impossible outside as even on a low wind day the pieces just blow away! I tried to nudge the larvae onto the plants themselves, but again they are so tiny that they simple fall off or are almost impossible to move without squashing them. I'm sure if you have sizeable plants in a greenhouse they'd be brilliant as the instructions to tap them out over the plants & cut pieces of the cardboard/membrane out to let the eggs hatch & the larvae crawl off, would be appropriate but outside on an average day in may they were useless. Most of them ended up on the ground, squashed or just blowing about bits of paper in the wind. So they were a total waste of money & I'm very disappointed, if i'd known i'd have waited to order later in the yr when weather conditions were more conducive, or simply stuck to ladybird lavae which are that much bigger & more appropriate for outdoors”
