Heartless Response During Family Tragedy
I recently experienced the devastating loss of both my father and grandfather in quick succession. While dealing with two bereavements and funerals, I understandably missed Go Skippy's renewal emails for my car insurance.
When I called to explain my situation, I was met with complete indifference. Their "computer says no" attitude was maintained by THREE different representatives, including their supposed "head of complaints/customer service." None showed any empathy or willingness to help during this difficult time.
What I discovered was shocking:
- No automatic renewal option (incredibly outdated)
- Renewal notifications sent ONLY via email (no phone calls, texts, or postal mail)
- A mere 5-day grace period after renewal before automatic cancellation
- Refusal to reinstate my previous policy despite exceptional circumstances
- Attempted to charge an additional £700 for a new premium
Even more concerning was that their "customer service manager" appeared powerless to make any decisions or exceptions. When asked about her actual role and responsibilities, she couldn't even provide an answer!
Go Skippy's complete lack of compassion, inflexible policies, and absence of leadership is truly appalling. They've demonstrated they have no interest in supporting loyal customers during difficult times.
I strongly advise anyone considering Go Skippy to look elsewhere for their insurance needs. A company that shows such disregard for customers during their most vulnerable moments doesn't deserve your business.”
