The magnets you ordered are ferrite disc magnets, also known as ceramic magnets. They are magnetised with their north and south poles on their opposite flat faces. Ferrite magnets have a high resistance to corrosion and demagnetisation and their great advantage is that they can operate in temperatures of up to 180 degrees Celsius. These magnets are ideal for craft making, model making and other non-technical applications where a really strong magnet is not necessary.

“On their website they state that the N42 magnet is suitable for Wrenn and Hornby Dublo model locomotives. This may be true for some models but it didn't fit mine. I have subsequently found that different motor types within the range of model require different magnets. If they want to make this claim on the web they should state which models they magnet is suitable for.”
