“I was charged £27.00 to ship Scarpa climbing shoes to Antalya, Turkey. I was not told that because the cost of the shoes exceeded €120.00 euros I would be charged a further €150.00 euros by Turkish customs. I cannot afford this hidden cost. I have 20 days before Turkish customs confiscate the shoes. The process of returning the shoes to the seller is complex and requires written declarations in written form that is offline. I doubt I will be able to have the shoes returned. Just unravelling this whole process was difficult. I believe Dick's on this occasion have not provided an informed service and I have lost £148.00 and climbing shoes.”

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties with customs. We do make it clear on the website that for international orders we do not charge UK VAT but that the customer is responsible for any local taxes or import duties. Customs arrangements are different for every country and change frequently so it is not possible for us to provide up to date tax information for every country. As we make clear on the website, checking local customs rules is the responsibility of the importer.
