I was charged £27.00 to ship Scarpa climbing shoes to Antalya, Turkey. I was not told that because the cost of the shoes exceeded €120.00 euros I would be charged a further €150.00 euros by Turkish customs. I cannot afford this hidden cost. I have 20 days before Turkish customs confiscate the shoes. The process of returning the shoes to the seller is complex and requires written declarations in written form that is offline. I doubt I will be able to have the shoes returned. Just unravelling this whole process was difficult. I believe Dick's on this occasion have not provided an informed service and I have lost £148.00 and climbing shoes.

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties with customs. We do make it clear on the website that for international orders we do not charge UK VAT but that the customer is responsible for any local taxes or import duties. Customs arrangements are different for every country and change frequently so it is not possible for us to provide up to date tax information for every country. As we make clear on the website, checking local customs rules is the responsibility of the importer.

I paid 12 pounds delivery fee to get 2 espresso cups and had to pay tax fees over that. I'm quite disappointed in that they've not agreed to refund these costs

As discussed, it was mentioned on the website in several places that the importer is responsible for any local taxes. We did not charge you UK VAT, French TVA is instead due at the point of import. I include a screenshot below showing the warning next to the checkout button.

As someone coming back into climbing after a 25 year gap I wanted to refresh my kit where needed and I also wanted to talk to someone exhibiting common sense. I got both (albeit the conversation was over the phone given Covid-19). Furthermore, the kit that I did order arrived extremely promptly despite warnings of possible delays due to the stresses on the postal system right now. The service would be complete if they could arrange for the Welsh Govt to permit unlimited travel to and within Wales ASAP; Socially Distanced of course.

First order fully canceled by staff because one item was out of stock (In Stock on the website) Second order raised, again delayed because one item was out of stock (In Stock on the website) Very very very disappointed !!!!
