Wasn't happy with the speed of the service. Order wasn't ready had to follow up with 2 phone calls to turn up to find out the order still hasn't been processed. Then had the guy on the counter moaning that I had ordered online

Very disappointed in the service from your company after initial excellent help when enquiring about worktops. Ordered & paid for worktops on wed 20th May 2015. Not contacted so phoned 27/05/2015 & got put through to London depot. Someone phoned back approx 1 hr later to say order coming from Bradford & that someone would phone next day, thurs, to arrange delivery date for next week. Have received no further phone call. Tried to phone depot this am & no reply. Very very disappointed with customer service .. just hope if & when worktops arrive that they're up to scratch! !!

I had to make a telephone call to the help line as I was not contacted within the 2 days specified, to be told that delivery would be in a few days time and that I would be contacted. A few days later I called the help line again as there was no phone call, to be told that the delivery was on the lorry that day to be delivered - no phone call to let me know about delivery. On the plus side the delivery driver was very helpful and friendly. The products I ordered were in good condition.

I ordered timber for a DIY project via the new* Arnold Laver online ordering system and, whilst the product itself is very good, the end to end ordering process is a bit of a shambles. *Previously tried to order online before but prevented from doing so as I am not an account holder, e.g house-builder contractor, sub-contractor, joiner, plumber, etc. The above statement is a clue to why I have rated the service as poor. For a start, I was to be notified within 2 working days that my order was ready for collection - I wasn't and had to ring for status of the order. I was informed the order was ready to collect and went round to my local depot to do so; and here lies the real problem for Arnold Laver v the established DIY players. 1: 'Store Entry' badly signposted. 2: Web order collection point is non-existent. 3: Sales desk staff show no interest in DIY/small sales customers. 4: When finally served, I was told to 'go see Bob next door for your order'. How was I supposed to identify Bob??? All yard staff wear identical hi-vis jackets and no name tags. 5: Identified the order myself, picked it up, carried it outside and left. The shame about the whole episode is that the price and quality of the timber is so much better than the main DIY chains. A real opportunity exists for Arnold Laver within the online marketplace but they will need to set up a proper sales delivery process for a different type of customer if they are to truly succeed.

I purchased some boards from your company online and was sent an e-mail to say i would be contacted in two days to arrange delivery, i didn't hear anything for six days so i phoned to find out what had happened, and i'm so glad i did as i hadn't received the e-mail you sent me to say the boards were being delivered on the Friday so if i hadn't phoned you there would have been no-one in to receive the delivery and I would of had to pay again for delivery, although the boards were good quality and very reasonably priced, i think i would be wary of ordering from you again.

Very warped to the point of being almost unusable. At least it was cheap, but then again, it wasn't worth paying a penny more for.

Whilst the quality of the materials supplied was to the expected standard the service regarding delivery was poor. The requested delivery date could not be achieved as some items were out of stock at the branch. However we were not notified of this and only became aware after contacting the branch. The new delivery date also proved wrong as the materials were available two days earlier but again this was not confirmed but discovered when once again checking with the branch. Finally we received email notification of dispatch but 4 days after the goods had in fact been delivered.

Price was very good but delivery disappointing. The Web site says 3 to 5 business days for delivery. Order was made on Saturday, but having heard nothing by the following Thursday we had to make a call to be told that they only deliver to our area every Wednesday. Therefore 12 days from the date of order to delivery, 8 business days. Since most people plan their work around the delivery to have no communication until we checked is not good enough.

Mr Kimm, Thank you for the positive feedback on our prices. I would like to apologise for the issues regarding delivery, we do deliver to your area, although at present this service is not as regular as we would hope. Two of the items which you order were not available at your nearest depot and had to be transferred from another. This process takes an additional 3 working days, this information can be found within the FAQs section of our website. Unfortunately on this occasion the Hebburn depot failed to contact you regarding the delay. I have contacted our sales personnel to remind them our order and delivery procedures to ensure this failure does not happen again. We are continuingly trying to improve our service and we thank you once again for feedback.

umm.. when the wood arrives I'll let you know! Now it has arrived it wasn't the size I asked for...... I asked for 2.2m lengths and got double that, going to be difficult to manipulate, didn't turn it away as I need to get cracking today as i've got the day off work.

Mr Bamford, Thank you for your feedback. I would like to apologise for the delay in receiving your order. This delay was due to your nearest depot not having enough stock of the 2.4m lengths of decking, which you ordered. On this occasion the depot took the decision of providing you 4.8m lengths to ensure delivery. This is standard practice given that the 4.8m can be cut in half to provide the lengths which you require, unfortunately they should have contacted you prior to dispatch to confirm this was acceptable. I have contacted the depot regarding our order procedures to ensure this miscommunication does not occur again in the future.

The order arrived with a box of screws missing, had to go back to depot myself for replacement. Joists size was incorrect, paid and invoiced for 47mm x 100mm but got 47mm x 75mm on pick note and delivery. Contacted Laver for refund for difference in price, had a call saying they were looking into it, heard nothing since. On the positive side, the decking looks great.

having ordered after 6pm on the 8th I expected delivery sooner than the 16th. The delivery note had the wrong postcode for my address and the mobile telephone was too small print for me to read easily and was incorrect. I did not receive a phone call within the 2 days and had to ring up myself which I will be charged for. I was informed the driver would ring to give me an more accurate time of delivery but the mobile number was wrong and the land line was not on the delivery note

I ordered timber during the weekend on line for collection at Reading and paid using a credit card. I was phoned on the following Monday to say the timber I ordered was not in stock and would not be available for 3 weeks. I cancelled the order and hope that I have not been charged. Good marks for a prompt phone call, poor marks for advertising timber not in stock.

Apologies that the timber you required wasn't in stock, but stock levels at individual depots fluctuate and are not directly linked to the website. Should an item be out of stock, we endeavour to offer an appropriate replacement if acceptable.

Excellent price, excellent correspondants , excellent delivery but unfortunately delivered the wrong product, the wood was smaller than described. I used it because I had to but was a little disappointed as this wasn't what I ordered.

Thanks for your review. It's possible that the wood you ordered had nominal rather than finished dimensions and the size discrepancy was due to finishing. It's also possible that we tried to supply you with the nearest alternative product if your ordered item was out of stock. Either way, please accept our apologies that the wood wasn't what you'd hoped for.

The product is very good. However, their delivery service is very poor indeed. I would only buy from them again if I went to collect from one of their depots.

Thank you for your review. We apologise for the delay in getting the doors delivered, but the doors had to come from XL Joinery's base in Batley, W Yorks. We had to wait for the stock from XL Joinery, transfer it between depots, and that took us into the Xmas period and the holiday shut-down. We despathched the doors to you as the depot re-opened. We hope to receive your custom again in future.

Ordered some timber (probably on a Wednesday), requested it be delivered on Monday. On Thursday morning receive a voicemail saying that as some needs to be ordered in I won't receive in until the next Wednesday, which is Okay. At about 16:00 on that Wednesday however (having stayed at home all day for the delivery), I receive a call saying that I won't get until Thursday morning. Not so good.

Ordered timber but despite what was stated in the confirmation email did not receive any confirmation from the local depot regarding availability for collection.

Thanks for your review. The depot fulfilling the order makes every effort to contact the buyer with a time and date for delivery/collection. We are putting measures in place to improve this process within certain depots.
