“It does rather depend on what the problem is. My doctor recommended them as a trial and it seems like most laxatives of this type it is advised that you drink lots of liquid. Unfortunately I am currently taking a diuertic and restricted to one and a half litres of fluid per 24 hours. Therefore one tablet contradicts the other. For me Dioctyl only seems to work if I eat loads of grapes or dried prunes. And I've also found that Dried Apricots work very well. If I just take Dioctyl on it's own nothing really seems to happen. As I said at the beginning, I think it depends on what the problem is.”

“Docusate ( Dioctyl) has helped me enormously. I have Crohn's disease which brings many problems with the bowel. Docusate works gently and gradually when constipation is prominent and it is gentle on the stomach. I would recommend this medication to anyone with such problems who has input from their GP.”
