“I take four a day. I have taken as many as six. Divided between morning and evening. I still seem to be slightly constipated first thing in the morning and from about late afternoon. The only way I can make them work is if I overdose on grapes, dried apricots and dried prunes. I suspect the dried fruit would work on its own without taking the pills at all.”

“I've been taking Docusate for quite awhile now and find them helpful in keeping me regular. They are easy to swalllow and don't purge my stomach. I now have them prescribed by my doctor. “It does rather depend on what the problem is. My doctor recommended them as a trial and it seems like most laxatives of this type it is advised that you drink lots of liquid. Unfortunately I am currently taking a diuertic and restricted to one and a half litres of fluid per 24 hours. Therefore one tablet contradicts the other. For me Dioctyl only seems to work if I eat loads of grapes or dried prunes. And I've also found that Dried Apricots work very well. If I just take Dioctyl on it's own nothing really seems to happen. As I said at the beginning, I think it depends on what the problem is.”

“Docusate ( Dioctyl) has helped me enormously. I have Crohn's disease which brings many problems with the bowel. Docusate works gently and gradually when constipation is prominent and it is gentle on the stomach. I would recommend this medication to anyone with such problems who has input from their GP.”
