“To be honest I was not expecting too much, given that they were graded as “distressed” and that they only cost around the price of a couple of pints of Guinness. On initial inspection I was very pleasantly surprised by the overall condition, basically one knee had suffered some sort of hole or tear and a patch had been fitted (of lightweight Goretex MTP material) albeit of a slightly different shade. However the standard of sewing was extremely high, obviously a professional repair carried out on a sewing machine. The stitching was covered on the inside with seam sealing tape so it looked to be a waterproof repair. After washing in tech wash and re-proofing with Nikwax TX direct wash-in, then air drying the trousers were ready for testing. Given the recent weather conditions I only had to wait a couple of days for an ideal opportunity. The actual performance in 2 hours of steady rain followed by 20 min of torrential rain was amazing: totally waterproof ! My legs were absolutely bone dry, I was wearing “long Johns” underneath as it was (bitingly) cold and very windy, and there were no signs of any dampness. This totally exceeded my expectations as I thought both the full length leg zips and the repaired knee patch were potential “weak spots”. In summary these are ideal for dog walking in rain of any intensity and in strong winds to cut wind-chill. In mild to warm conditions they can be worn over lightweight trousers, but in cooler conditions they need to be worm over substantial trousers (or long Johns) as being lightweight they are thin and offer little to nothing in the way of insulation. Once I realised just how good they were I decided to buy some more as aside from wearing, they are perfect for carrying in my back, being lightweight and packing up in to a really small volume. Sadly in the 3 or 4 days between delivery and testing they went “out of stock”. Not sure if they had “sold like hot cakes” given the recent miserable weather or possibly they only had a limited supply. I hope these do come back in stock as they are an absolute bargain.”

“Items delivered on time, but haven't had a chance to wear them yet, cos the weather's been good. So cannot comment on how good they are. They seem OK, if a little large for the size. Time will tell.”
